This was Shai's best season ever. SGA maintained his dominance despite his Oklahoma City teammates missing hundreds of games to injury, dozens of which were incurred by co-stars Jalen Williams and Isaiah Hartenstein. He played the most minutes for one of the best defenses of all time, contributing as a plus team defender and playmaker. On offense, Gilgeous-Alexander joined Jordan and a handful of legends who have racked 4-straight seasons averaging over 30 points per game, and elevated his standing as the league's best volume scorer.

#2 for #2
All of the Spurs starters played 44 minutes or more. If San Antonio relies more and more on overloaded starters as the series turns in OKC's favor, Daigneault will be vindicated.

Wemby, Spurs outlast Shai and the Thunder: The Day After Report
OKC trails 0-1 in series
OKC won Game 2 with only 8 minutes from Williams, and they dominated most of the regular season without their second-best player from last year's title run. For as long as San Antonio's point guard rotation is down...Oklahoma City can survive the loss of their best wing. That they'd have to win it for JDub and not with him is just. not. fair.

Series tied 1-1
Spurs threw 2 bodies at him every play and he either scored, assisted or passed out and his teammates played 4 on 3. All due credit to McCain, Caruso and JWill, but those were mostly open looks because of SGA's gravity and playmaking."

Thanks to SGA, McCain and the deep Thunder roster, OKC takes a 2-1 lead in the Western Conference Finals
In memory of one of the kindest, most positive dudes to ever write and run a sports blog, we have been trading notes about Spurs-Thunder 2026 with Pounding the Rock, doing our best to exhibit the good-natured spirit J.A. Sherman put into everything he wrote and assigned. Even when the rivalry gets ugly."
