The Thunder traded for the Knicks’ #11 overall pick, reportedly sending multiple future draft assets to New York while keeping their own #12 selection to take Jalen Williams, their third lottery pickup from this 2022 NBA Draft.
Dieng is yet another long, skilled forward in an Oklahoma City frontcourt featuring Chet Holmgren (selected earlier in the night) and Aleksej Pokusevski. The 19-year-old shot up draft boards after a strong finish to his 2021-22 season with the New Zealand Breakers.
Taken one spot after Dieng, Williams rocketed even further up the draft ranks after his junior season at Santa Clara. The 21-year-old is a–suprise!–long wing who projects as a secondary playmaker with shooting prowess from the perimeter.
