Thunder draft Otega Oweh

Oweh could be okay

After trading down from #37 to #41 (grabbing cash compensation from Miami in the deal) the Oklahoma City Thunder selected Otega Oweh in the second round of the 2026 NBA Draft. Oweh played two seasons for Oklahoma before transferring to Kentucky, where he just averaged 18.6 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.8 steals on 46.5/33.3/73.1 shooting as a senior.

A 23-year-old listed at 6'5, 226 lbs, Oweh was not a given to be drafted (case in point: he was missing from DT's top 50 big board) despite leading Kentucky in scoring and steals. He's a brute force attacker/defender without a jumper, and doesn't stand much better chance to crack the roster than Brooks Barnhizer or any of the other two-way candidates on the margins for the Thunder. Barring any further trades, OKC will move on to sift though the undrafted and retread markets to fill out more of the summer roster.
