It’s official. Kevin Durant is in. Down your cider KD, you deserve it. I don’t know why this is so exciting, but I feel like we just put away some kind of trophy. It honestly just feels important for some reason.

Not to pull out the sappy card, but this is Oklahoma City’s first All-Star and everybody will be watching the game. And to know we have representation with our star, well, it just means a lot. This is just the first in what will surely be many, many more All-Star appearances, but I just think the first is kind of the most special.

Anyway, KD joined the TNT crew after the announcement and here’s a few of his comments:

On not wanting to hear before the show:
Durant: “I wanted to hear you guys say my name as an All-Star, so I was waiting until then. It feels good and it’s a dream come true for me. I’m happy to represent Oklahoma City and my family in the All-Star game. It’s an honor and I’m very happy.”

Charles Barkley asks: “Well Kevin, we didn’t want to break your heart on TV, so you’ve been punked. You didn’t really make the team.”
Durant: “That’s messed up man.” (wild laughter erupts from everywhere)

On making the playoffs:
Durant: “I don’t predict anything man, I just take it a game at the time. I think if we just continue to get better, you never know what’s going to happen at the end of the year. I’m excited about what we have in store though.”

On areas he’s improved:
Durant: “I think I’m playing defense better, able to pass a little better than last year and just being more of a leader I think. These guys look up to me so if they see me coming in every day and working hard, they’re going to follow. I’m just excited to be here and learn from these guys and hopefully be here as long as possible.”

On where the Thunder need to improve:
Durant: “I think one thing we’re trying to pinpoint is rebounding the basketball. We have trouble with keeping teams off the offensive glass … and also finishing out games. Making shots in the fourth quarter, getting stops, that’s going to help us out as well. If we keep working hard in practice every day, I think we’ll get it done.”

And a tweet:

“Thanks alot to God and my teammtes for makin me an all star..this is surreal.”

Again, congrats to KD. I’m being serious when I say, I don’t think Oklahoma City could ask for any better representation as an All-Star. We’re pretty lucky.
