The early season fun is already over. The Thunder won their third straight game of the season, but lost their second best player to a severe leg injury.
After spending over a year battling back from a damaged wrist and chronic hamstring injuries following Oklahoma City's 2025 title run, Jalen Williams suffered a gruesome lower leg injury and will be out indefinitely. (OKC will provide an update in the morning.) His teammates and coach were very upset during the game, and in their comments afterward.
I wouldn't recommend looking up the replay if you're squeamish. With under two minutes to play, Derrick Jones, Jr. and Kris Dunn sandwiched Williams on an attempt at the basket, and Dub landed awkwardly on his ankle after being fouled on the attempt at the basket. Dunn was issued a flagrant one after review for the closeout. Shai shot the free throws after his costar was taken out on a stretcher.
