3 Big Things

  • The Maledorian: Theo Maledon stole all of our hearts in the Thunder’s win against Orlando on Saturday night. He looked confident. He looked aggressive. He looked like he should have been a first-round draft pick. After the game, Maledon said his teammates encouraged him to be more aggressive like he was during the preseason games and it absolutely paid off for Maledon and the Thunder.
  • Ball Movement: Coach Daigneault seems to be putting a lot of emphasis on ball movement this season. It was a strategy that paid enormous dividends for the Thunder last season under the direction of Chris Paul and Daigneault seems to be utilizing SGA and Maledon in a similar way. SGA led the team with 7 assists on Saturday.
  • Baze, obviously. No surprise, but I’m here to brag about Darius Bazley again. After struggling in the Thunder’s first matchup with Orlando, Darius Bazley came back with a renewed purpose and put up his second double-double of the season. In his rookie year, he only had one double-double the entire season. Obviously, the extra playing time benefits Bazley but he has elevated his defensive acuity and overall awareness as well. I’m putting my vote in early for Darius Bazley: Most Improved Thunder Player.
