27 Statements Made With Extreme Confidence
It’s the most wonderful time of year, Thunder fans. Basketball is back. Which means it’s also time for my most favorite journal of the year.
1. Thunder win Opening Night vs. the Spurs. No matter what happens, the hot takes are going to be unbearable for the losing team’s fanbase. For the sake of OKC fans who like to spend time on social media, I hope I nail this one.
2. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander finishes Top 3 in MVP voting… but doesn’t threepeat. The media has been ready to crown Wemby since before he got his driver’s license. Does anyone know if he can actually drive? Does he have a car like in The Flintstones with the bottoms cut out?
3. Thunder have 3 All-Stars. The last team to have a trio of All-Stars was Cleveland in 2025. Back in 2022, the Warriors pulled the feat off with Steph Curry, Draymond Green and... wait for it... Andrew Wiggins.
4. Thunder have 2 All-NBA selections. There have only been 20 times in history that one team had three All-NBA players. So while I believe SGA, JDub and Chet will all be deserving, history says only two make it. JDub made it in 2025, Chet made it in 2026. So I guess it’s JDub’s turn again.
5. Thunder have 2 All-Defense selections. With apologies to worthy candidates Jalen Williams and Alex Caruso, Chet Holmgren and Cason Wallace feel like no-brainers to go back to back.
6. Aday Mara is an All-Rookie Team selection. This prediction would’ve been much more bold after Summer League but before the preseason. I was sooo close to saying All-Rookie First Team, but I wimped out.
7. Jared McCain competes in the 3-Point Contest. After years of snubbing Isaiah Joe, the NBA cannot resist the TikTok star power combined with the lethal sharpshooting of JMac.
8. Jaylin Williams wins Teammate of the Year. JWill has been nominated but lost out on the honor two straight seasons. Which means the NBA got it wrong two straight seasons.
9. Isaiah Hartenstein will make a 3-pointer. I’m going to predict this every year until he finally does it and then I’ll pull up this article and tweet “SEE I TOLD YOU!”
10. Bennett Stirtz does not play a single game in the G League. Older combo guard who is NBA ready and surprises everyone his rookie season. Or as I call it, The Ajay Mitchell. Speaking of...
