Thunder Journal: Win-Wem Season

Going into the All-Star Break, the Thunder sat alone as the 10 seed in the West.

Three games later, the Thunder sit alone as the 13 seed in the West.

Before the break, the thought of adding Victor Wembanyama or Scoot Henderson to a core already loaded with young talent seemed an impossibility.

Three games later… so you’re telling me there’s a chance.

No matter what happens in OKC’s final 22 games, this season has already been a smashing success. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has become a superstar. Josh Giddey has improved on his rookie season and continues to look like a strong building block. Jalen Williams has been one of the top 5 rookies of the year and is absolutely locked in as a core piece. Isaiah Joe is a 23 year-old sniper gifted to OKC as a gesture of brotherly love from Philadelphia. The Thunder have flirted with the Play-In Tournament for most of the season and proven that this is a team that, assuming continued development and the addition of Chet Holmgren, has playoff pedigree simmering underneath the cloak of youth.
