Thunder Clinch Playoff Berth After Kings Fall in Houston

Though the Oklahoma City Thunder failed to clinch a playoff spot last night against the Nuggets, the Rockets did the dirty work today in Houston — beating the Kings 119-108 to eliminate Sacramento from playoff contention. As such, the Thunder are officially in — again doing their best work on their days off.

The Thunder aren’t the only ones with some celebrating to do:

With the eight Western Conference playoff teams now determined, the only thing left to do is figure out where they land. The Thunder remain 8th for the time being — which would result in a first round date with the Golden State Warriors if the regular season ended today*.

Despite the recent struggles, the playoff berth is the franchise’s ninth in the last 10 years — no small feat for anyone. The Thunder will look to improve their standing over the six remaining regular season games, starting tomorrow against the Luka Doncic-less Dallas Mavericks.
