Bubble Breakout: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s Shortcut to Stardom

When the NBA season resumes next week, the eyes of the entire world will be upon Orlando, Florida as the 22 “bubble” teams compete for the NBA Title. Established superstars such as LeBron James will demand most of the attention, but do not forget the young guns in the league. The NBA Playoffs are always a golden opportunity for players to make a name for themselves, especially for talented young players. That means for OKC’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (SGA), this is the time to shine.

Like Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, and James Harden before him, SGA now has a monumental chance to become a household name and elevate himself into the NBA star hierarchy by having a killer showcase during OKC’s Playoff Run.

Regular season stats and feats do matter, but it’s the postseason where Superstars and Legends are forged by fire.

If SGA shows out and demonstrates Superstar stuff, his legacy and profile, alongside OKC’s, skyrockets. This “Bubble” puts even more of a spotlight on the NBA, which means the stakes are even higher, and the potential boost to status is magnified.

While most of the spotlight on young players goes to Luka Dončić, Trae Young, Ja Morant, and Zion Williamson, SGA absolutely belongs up there with them as a face of NBA future. It’s difficult to simultaneously be both one of the best young players in the league and be underrated, but SGA is definitely that. “Bubble Ball” is going to be fascinating to watch, and I cannot wait to see what the Thunder and SGA do!
