Here are some words for you to eat, LeBron

After the Thunder’s 15-point meltdown in Game 4 of the Western Conference Finals, LeBron James said this:

“I don’t want to sit here and be the coach of OKC but I seen a lot of things that could have been done better.”

Do you prefer college rule, cardstock or construction?

(Now, I suppose you might be saying, “But Royce, shouldn’t you eat yours? You just wrote about how the Thunder should learn from the Heat.” And you’d be right. But I also said this in that piece:

“They’re closing games with impressive style. Now, it’s about closing a series. They’ve got a leg up on the Mavericks 1-0. As goes anything with the Heat, one time of failure and all this goodwill flies out the door. One time of not closing and finishing poorly and everyone is ready to write and talk about their problems.”

Maybe I just got it backwards. Maybe the Heat were the ones learning from the Thunder.

The Heat totally blew this one, no doubt. Their possessions were poor, they didn’t play defensive and Dirk totally Dirk’d them. At the same time though, they kind of did their thing. They just missed some shots. The trust was there. All those quotes from Wade and LeBron are still applicable anyway.

And really, there’s something for the Thunder to learn here again: It happens to everyone. Even the really good, experienced guys. Winning is hard. Especially when you’re playing Dirk.)

Thanks Royce for a great column today. Mark this day in history - I'm rooting for The Mavericks in this one - from a long time Maverick hater!

Last night I was so mad watching the game!! At first I turned down the sound - I just couldn't stand how great The Heat was on and on and on and on and on.......... Then somewhere around the show off dunk by LeBron or Wade in the 4th quarter I just could not stand it anymore. I turned the TV off. Boy was I surprised to hear about the ending this morning! Eat some words LeBron - eat, eat, eat, chew, chew, chew.

@ dudeman
It is justified when it comes to Lebron

f5alcon :i dont think mavs can win all 3 at home

I agree, but 2 out of 3 ought to be enough.

i dont think mavs can win all 3 at home

the term schadenfreude never seemed so appropriate.

I'm just so happy that it looks like we'll actually get a competitive series after all. Through about 7 and a half quarters this was looking like it could be a sweep. Nice work Mavericks.

It's funny how when Dallas did this to us, the all the MSM could talk about was how great Dallas' comeback was. When it happens to the Heat, it is 'Meltdown in Miami".

Sure but the Heat and Thunder can learn from the Mavs. I believe its Dirks year

I wonder if the people over at ESPN will find a way to pin this loss on Westbrook.

Exactly what I was thinking after the game.. That Dirk 3 near the end gave me the chills, eerily similar from the one he hit against us..

LeBron looking sick at the press conference!

@ justin
Oh, word? We could have done things better in losing a 15 point lead with less than 5 mins left?

Mavs do it again. Unreal.

How you let that happen when you have arguably the 2 best players in the world makes no sense to me?

At least the heat choked or blew that game with their best lineup out there. Don't think we could say the say the same for us, at least not with small ball in game 5 when a rebound is what was needed. Ok serenity now, serenity now....

Think about how KD and Russ must feel right now after what just happened to LeBron and D-Wade. Pretty good, I would think.

Almost, dare I say, vindicated?

This loss sucks for the Heat but LeBron was still right...

How about those Mavericks?

This is so hilarious!

I hope that for one day, Scott Brooks channels his Stan Van Gundy and throws that crap back at Lebron. Just one day.
