Serge Ibaka to play in Rookie/Sophomore challenge

Thunder forward Serge Ibaka will be pulling double duty at All-Star Weekend. On top of the dunk contest, Ibaka will also be participating in the Rookie/Sophomore game.

Teams for the Rookie/Sophomore game are picked in league-wide vote of assistant coaches.

A little surprising James Harden didn’t make the cut, seeing as he was on the Rookie team last season and hasn’t had all that bad of a Sophomore campaign. His numbers aren’t flashy, but most agree he’s doing a solid job in his role off the bench.

The Rookie team is Eric Bledsoe, DeMarcus Cousins, Derrick Favors, Landry Fields, Blake Griffin, Wesley Johnson, Greg Monroe, Gary Neal and John Wall.

Joining Ibaka on the Sophomore squad is DeJuan Blair, DeMar DeRozan, Stephen Curry, Tyreke Evans, Taj Gibson, Jrue Holiday, Brandon Jennings and Wesley Matthews.

Carmelo Anthony will serve as an assistant coach for the Rookie team and Amar’e Stoudemire will be on the Sophomore team.

@ThundercatsKD35

KAWHI LEONARD appears to be a decent candidate to consider. I heard another endorsement recently. But it would depend what position / role the Thunder were trying to fill.

Whoo! Rumble! If only I could make it to the game. They'd probably just let you in for free at this point. As far as next year's draft is concerned, I hope we don't wast another pick on a big who can't/won't help us. I'd much rather see us grab another scorer or shooter. What do you guys think?

@f5alcon

Rumble reported on his facebook page that the game is still on!

It would just be for this season

& i never want dalembert ... never ever ever.

andrew :@justin

I actually think we will be that team. At some point either Brooks will play him big minutes or we will have a new coach that will. That said, I am not as high on him as others, and I do find it hard to look past his extremely poor finishing ability at the rim.

i think harden is vastly overrated around here ... & i like him ... but he doesnt always bring it .. (& its no reason at all that he should have to be told to dunk - regardless of his finishing %, you don't have to tell good offensive players to dunk, particularly on the break

steph curry > jimmer ... on playmaking & basketball IQ alone ...

jimmer > jj reddick ... he beats people off the dribble, jj didnt really do that ...

At least MyP2P.eu is still up.

@TempBoy Brandon
yeah i got an email from them.

@okc baby
Hes more like a Mark price and D Will potential

Yeah I hope we beat the Hornets. We need this win

Jimmer has better handles then Reddick.

andrew :@dream
catcher
Hopefully Aldrich will be better than both, as untouchable as you consider him in potential trades.

who said he is untouchable? I just don't want to trade him and a 1st round pick, for scrubs like Gortat......

Jimmer Freddette is Steph Curry 2.0 according to ESPN

Don't worry. We got this! The Thunder will want to win this one bad tomorrow. Too bad there won't be any crowd to cheer them on. I wish I could go out in this crap. Maybe they'd let you in for free

Didn't realize Deandre Jordan was a restricted free agent this summer. I wouldnt mind making him an offer....

Lakers probably going to make moves

@dream catcher
Hopefully Aldrich will be better than both, as untouchable as you consider him in potential trades.

Great Jason Smith might hurt more then Okafor. 20pt 9/11

I wonder who is going to be more important to our success down the road.........Harden or Ibaka? Both could develop into excellent players.

jimmers no more than a jj redick type.. kawhi leonard can flatout handle dunk and shoot and is a decent passer who will probably go in the 20s

Many of them have already migrated to non-US domains: http://atdhe.me/

have no fear ATDHE.me is here :)

I am guessing many of those sites will be accessible in some form after the Super Bowl.

You realize we're going to have a draft pick in the 20s and good players usually don't fall the to mid-to-late 20's. Plus, doesn't KD want the guy from BYU who put 40 up against SDSU a few nights back?

Dear Thunder, Please draft KAWHI LEONARD from sdsu Kid can score and rebound and is very athletic he would be durants backup at sf at first or play sg please please look at this kid someone tell the organization to draft him hes a great player

@nick
This truly is terrible news. With Justintv already being such a bust most nights, ATDHE was my lifeline to watching most Thunder games.

Horrible news: ATDHE.net, firstrow.net, and channelsurfing.net are all shut down by the government. I am greatly saddened.

from the previous thread.

@F5alcon

Thanks for the kudos. Yeah, I wish we would've put the audio over the video too. Did you get an email back from the Thunder?

Seflosha green and 1st round pick for carmelo anthony or BYNUM...Steph curry is not untouchable we need a shooter now and then hopefully get a big man this offseason like NENE or Yao i know yaos been hurt but if he can stay healthy he has a lot left in the tank

I thought if Thabo was injured/traded, Harden would get the playing time he needed, but this is not the case. Brooks will always find a way to get him just 15 mins a game. When/if Harden and Brooks finally click, this team could be real scary. Hopefully Presti believes in him and won't trade him away. Everyone else in the league think Thabo is a joke in the starting lineup. A SG, who can't score. LMAO!!!!!! Scott Brooks, "He brings us intangibles"????

I like Robin Lopez. I wish we could get Lopez and Dudley off that team.

Also, how terrifying is carmelo for bynum trade for the Lakers? It would take some major concessions by Kobe, but a Fisher-Kobe-Melo-Odom-Gasol lineup is just terrifying to me.

Lets say the Nuggets did that trade, and then did a Jeff Green+DJ White for Nene swap with us. A Billups/Lawson-Afflalo-Green-Martin-Bynum is a pretty solid rebound from the Melo-drama. They would definitely still be a playoff team. If i was Denver I think I would rather take a risk on keeping Bynum healthy than take back some avg. rotation players from the Knicks.

Alright, enough of the bad trade ideas that I really like.

@andrew

For what it's worth, Harden's FG% at the rim is higher than Westbrook's was in his second season.

Robin Lopez could be a possible center target before the deadline. Gortat has pretty much locked down the starting Center position in Phoenix..

@justin
I actually think we will be that team. At some point either Brooks will play him big minutes or we will have a new coach that will. That said, I am not as high on him as others, and I do find it hard to look past his extremely poor finishing ability at the rim.

James Harden's going to go to a team eventually that lets him play through his mistakes and he's going to be a terrific player.

James Harden sounds depressed. Here's his latest tweet:

JHarden13 , "I guess I wasnt good enough to play in the Rookie/Soph game in LA."

Please, let this be motivation to show the league what you can do.

Wow. Everyone's so down on the Thunder right now in the power rankings annually. Beat Orlando by 1 and you have arrived and are awesome. Lose to NO and Heat by a slim margin and all of a sudden we've got major problems. The truth is in between but seriously, I hate how fickle rankers are with our team

@David

Just quotes from the NewsOK article.

Can anyone with insider access tell me why ESPN thinks Ibaka's mins have been cut

@gr8ball83
I've almost forgotten how awesome the dunk contest used to be. So sad.

@justin
harden and thabo could play some sf too

Dalembert / Collison
Ibaka / Landry
Durant / Cook?
Harden / Sefolosha
Westbrook / Maynor

Looks good to me. Doubt it would happen.

this is pretty neat:

http://hoopism.com/?p=961

My only problem with Landry is that his actual numbers do not look all that impressive

David :
Would you guys trade Jeff Green, Kristic, and Mo Pete for Carl Landry and Dalembert

Yes.

@David

I think so. The Kings might even go for that.
