View from the enemy: Magic Basketball

Big time game tonight in Oklahoma City. TNT visits for its first ever regular season broadcast in OKC, the Orlando Magic with their cast of stars are here and then there’s the whole this is two pretty good teams playing each other thing.

Orlando coming in: The Magic had won nine straight but lost last night in New Orleans. So naturally they’re going to be looking to get back on track tonight. However, last night’s game did go in to overtime, so maybe there will be some heavy legs.

THE MATCHUPS
Whoa boy some tough matchups all around. Dwight Howard is a nightmare for anyone in the league, but now having Brandon Bass next to him instead of the softer Rashard Lewis makes the Magic a pretty dominant interior team. So here’s where I say please dear Lord let Jeff Green grab a rebound (maybe two) and let’s hope for a good night from Serge Ibaka and Nick Collison off the bench.

Kevin Durant has a big edge on Hedo Turkoglu so that could be where OKC really focuses. Turkoglu can score and in the Orlando system has been much better.

Russell Westbrook really needs to play well against Jameer Nelson, but with Howard patrolling the middle, some of Westbrook’s dribble attacks at the rim might need to be more of the draw and kick variety.

The Magic look a bit scary with all that talent littered throughout the roster, but I think the Thunder has a good shot at them tonight. The home crowd, the chance at a statement on TNT and the fact that OKC has some talented players to match up with. The key will be points in the paint. If the Magic are getting baskets with ease at a high rate, it could be tough for the Thunder.

Defense will be the key for OKC. The Magic will defend, but if the Thunder doesn’t, they won’t have a chance.

Tip at 7:00 CT. Go National Thunder.

Big game tonight and it’s a hot ticket. Check Totally Tickets for great deals on seats. No service fees!

@David
They had nothing but great things to say about OKC and its fans. Reggie even joked about the Lucha Libre guy who sits behind one of the baskets, saying that you wouldn't see someone dressed like that in too many other places.

Game environment was awesome! What did they say about us on TNT? Great D in spurts, especially in the 1st. Horrible calls. Booed very loudly

Westbrook-Durant-Howard wouldn't even be fair. You could put ANYONE around those players, and they'll win championships every year. The Big 3 in Miami wouldn't compare, because OKC's trio in this scenario would be utterly beyond a perfect fit.

You heard about those kids in the middle of nowhere? Yeah, they're decent. They should hook up with that big guy from Florida sometime.

@okc thunder
lakers have a sun game, so they will be on back end of back to back and we will have 3 days rest

okc thunder :
To bad Sir Charles is out

He wants nothing to do with OKC.

Damn we dont play till Monday. We play like this. Lakers better watch out.

Gotta love KD playing the closer. That J was ice on the shot clock buzzer.

To bad Sir Charles is out

@okc thunder

Um, I dont know about "no doubt"

Russ' swagg was a 15 on a scale of 1 to 10 tonight

If we can gain confidence on our post D and not help all the damn time with our guards. We will be in the finals. No doubt

@Dr. Thunder
Harden wasnt that impressive:( Everyone has bad games

Orlando has got some awesome shooters! Reddick, Arenas, Turk, Nelson, Richardson, Anderson can all shoot

This is easily the best win of the season. Wonderful game statistically by every player. Exactly what we needed. Not the best defense, but cant really expect that against this type of team.

Russ + KD combined for 68, gotta love that. How the hell did we survive the 39-18 and the barrage of 3s...

KD got his MOJO back!

125 - 124. This could very well be the highest scoring game of the season thus far. Overtime or not.

36 points on 17 shots for Durant aint too bad.

Sammy :
Awesome win. Best of the season.

100% agree

Richardson added some flair to the final score O.O

Damn 1 pt. Seems like we should have one by more than that. Anyway, GREAT GAME!

Awesome win. Best of the season.

KD is one hundred percent ice.

What a hell of a game this was. Damn. Amazing win.

Very nice showing for a prime time national televised game.

@Sammy

For some reason, I like Ivey too... you never see him much on the floor, but he seems like such a good player.

Now we just need to inbound the ball that's it. Draw a good inbounding play.

KD will need to hand the ball to Rick Carlisle for Orlando to have a shot.

Seems like everyone on the Thunder really love Royal Ivey.

If only he was fouled and he could end the game.

Why is Harden in for Sef...

I like how KD is not relying on long jumpers in this game.

I'm starting to be happy about getting Durant and not Oden in the draft.

Unbelievable game. 13-26 from 3PT range for Orlando and 37/17 for Howard. Inexplicable that they might take this one.

Clutch baby, clutch. KD FTMFW!

HE'S LIKE ICE!

DURAAAAANTULA!!!

KD made it !!!!!!!!!!

YES YES YES YES! THANK YOU KD!

Midrange KD shot was correct!

I predict a foul on Westbrook.

Reminds me of the Houston game. Think we were too concerned with preventing the three.
