KD explains why he’s on the cover of SI with Thabo and Nenad

Chris Tomasson of FanHouse passed along why Kevin Durant posed on the cover of Sports Illustrated’s preview issue with unlikely candidates Thabo Sefolosha and Nenad Krstic.

Basically, Durant requested that Thabo and Nenad be on the cover with him because “they don’t get a lot of pub.” Durant even indicated that he wouldn’t have posed for the cover if those two guys weren’t included with him.

This guy Durant. What more can you say? I mean, sheesh.

@Cpt. C-note
Good call. My bad. I just such a smart-ass...;)

krispy krstic has actually gotten more "pub" lately than usual...love krstic's style

@ Tom and Cpt. C-Note: Don't feed the trolls. They get bigger and multiply, and then we have to spend money on pest control.

oops, just saw Sammy already posted that.. :)

@Seattle Basketball
Check out this team that is ready to win for a decade! ;)

Seattle is a great american city. I a sure KD enjoyed living there

Lot's of quotes here from the team re: a possible Green extension. The most valuable one:

"We value Jeff as a player and as a person, and we've had positive conversations,'' Presti said. "But, just out of respect to Jeff and the team, I just don't feel like it's appropriate for me to go any deeper than to say that Jeff Green is someone that we value and we're proud to have him as a part of our organization.''

Hmmm.... I'ma be pretty upset if he signs for any more than $6m a year.

What is the over / under on number of years before Durant is "allowed" / does a feature interview with Simmons?

To me Simmons and his friend are insane in thinking the Knicks are an over "lock". With the current roster I think they are an under lock. If they got Melo the over would still be less than certain.

I was debating last night which teams they would be strongly favored to beat in the first round and among those likely to be there I only became up with 1-2 for sure, more if they have home court. Most first round opponents look more like long series than walk overs. 60+ win teams with strong chances to make the finals usually walk over the first round at minimum, if not the second too.

Wow that is out there on the first and last points.

I know he's a huge Durant homer, but Bill Simmons was discussing over-under's for teams for this season on his latest podcast and had this to say about the Thunder:

- Thunder winning 60+ games
- Thunder making a "leap"
- Durant cruising to theMVP
- Durant wins scoring title (by at least 4 pts)
- Durant averaging 32.8 pts
- Ibaka and Harden to make big leaps this season
- Green to be about the same as last time
- Leaning towards OKC making the finals

@justin
well, yeah, one dribble. ;)

I don’t understand all the hoopla. Nenad and Thabo are starting members of the Thunder (despite many of our wishes).

The obvious choice would have been Durant-Westbrook-Green, or even Harden and Ibaka in the mix. I think that's the reason for the hoopla. Even though Thabo and Nenad are starters, they still seem like unlikely candidates for two players to represent KD on the cover. All the more reason it's a great story.

@Thomas

That is that last thing we want if it's the shoes that make it happen. Why not just put mini-tramps all over the court?

Who doesn't want to play with Durant?

Off topic here but I just saw this news item on NBA.com
"NBA bans shoes designed to increase vertical leap"
http://www.nba.com/2010/news/10/19/shoe-ban.ap/ind...

Because the last thing we'd want is for these guys to start dunking more often and taking off further away from the rim when they do.

Check out this Seattle Basketball player named Tony Wroten. He is a future #1 pick. KD misses Seattle!

Durant just keeps getting better. Can he really be this nice of a guy? I'm so cynical at this point after seeing icon after icon brought down by one scandal or another, I almost can't believe it when I see something like this.

wow! Durant is the ULTIMATE teammate. Go Thunder!
