Durant and Westbrook lead the U.S. to blowout of Croatia

Team USA rolled Croatia today 106-78 behind 14 points from Kevin Durant and 12 from Russell Westbrook, who also added four assists. I recapped the whole thing at CBS Sports, but there’s definitely nothing to be depressed about for the Americans. KD looked great, Westbrook was solid and the team was focused. And of course, Russell Westbrook showed off the turbo button a bit with this flash to the basket.

@Mark!

Sam Presti must set a very high priority on this trait...

justin :

dream catcher :Pleiss boxes out on most shots, and seems to have a great touch. Needs to work on his BBall IQ, gets lost too much on offense and defense.

It’s funny how he runs around just setting random screens.

That's exactly what Mullens did every time they let him on the court.

Pleiss not having a great game but it's clear he makes Germany's defense better with his length. He's caused some turnovers with his long arms and rotation help defense.

I think Pleiss has the upper hand right now because he seems tougher than Mullens and is a better rebounder even with his lack of athleticism.

dream catcher :Watching Pleiss I think he can become basically Krstic with a good work ethic and time. A longer Krstic is not bad as a 2nd string Center, not bad at all.

Troy Weaver the Assistant GM compared him to Rik Smits. I think Mullens and Pleiss both have a shot at fulfilling that jumpshooting big man role post-Krstic.

yeah, I dunno if that's what coach wants him to do or he just doesn't know what to do.

Pleiss with some strong play. A hook shot and a clean block.

justin :

justin :Pleiss just hit a nice hook.

And had a block on the other end.

Then with two dumb fouls.

Andre Iguodala is probably a better athlete than Westbrook considering his size and strength.

Most of our bigs are poor finishers / don't make cuts to the basket. I wish we had Kevin Love or someone to finish plays / a big who will make a cut. Jeff Green is so irritating in this respect, he does not move at all offensively... Durant would get some assists if the offense was more coherent.

dream catcher :

ThuDer :Is it me or is Westbrook the most athletic player in the world not named LeBron?

Derrick Rose

I think Russ is quicker than Rose... especially when reacting (i.e. defense). If there's an advantage toward either player it's very slight.

too bad Krstic is suspended, could have seen him go up vs Tibor Pleiss. Germany vs Serbia coming up shortly.

Is it me or is Westbrook the most athletic player in the world not named LeBron?

And he coulda been ours.

Tyson Chandler is horrible.

Just from seeing how Durant has improved his passing, I would reckon to say that alley oops are about to become a big part of the thunder gameplan. A lineup of RW-JH-KD-JG-SI could provide for an evermore entertaining brand of basketball. I can almost hear Brian Davis jumping for joy.

Kevin Love in a Thunder uniform is dreamy.

Ugly. Be glad you're asleep.

He sits and the scoring stops.

Durant killing Slovenia.

Oops, Ever = Even.

Ya'll gotta take the kind of system that Rubio is in into account. They are vastly different than the NBA. Many scouts think his skills (not his #s) are what will translate into the NBA's game.

...but still. Ever after that I don't see him being any better than somewhere in the Top 5-10 point guards. I can't see him being better than Nash, Paul, Williams, Rose, Rondo or Westbrook.

@f5alcon
T-wolve didn't decide who was coach when they drafted Rubio.

@justin
yeah i can see the tinsley comparison. the wolves screwed up that pick, should have taken curry, his 3 pt shooting would be great on triangle kickouts

In difference site,tibor has difference rebs,from 3-5.
He often guarded Argentina guard.It made him far to the basket,so he cannot get many rebs.And several times he can get the ball but his teammate Jagla grabbed it.

He reminds me of Jamaal Tinsley.

Rubio is nowhere near as athletic as Shaun Livingston pre-injury...

Gavin :
Tibor had 12 pts 2 rebs, not bad.

2 rebs is kinda low

justin :
Still struggling to see what will make Rubio a star in the NBA.

yeah thats what i have been saying for a long time, seems a lot like shaun livingston with better defense. So good, probably a starting PG in the NBA but not an allstar and will not fit in anyway with the wolves triangle because he doesnt have consistent 3 point range

@Mike
I'm going to guess not. Think I read they were in the top three in the league with 93 percent renewal rate, and I'm going to guess a lot of the people who bought a couple of the eight-game packages last year grabbed one of the half-half season packages they offered this year.

Agree on this. He's a nice player, but can you see him being much more than an 10-point, 8-assist point guard?

GREAT JOB HEY GUYS YOU THINK THE THUNDER GOING TO HAVE TROUBLE SELLING TICKETS?

@justin
I guess this doesn't count because he's not a PG, but for a dunk by a smaller dude, I'm partial to the Starks playoff dunk...

Tibor had 12 pts 2 rebs, not bad.

@justin

Me too. I'm looking forward to watching Spain over the course of the tournament. Especially since Rubio is starting now.

29 minutes, 3:2 A:T, 6 Pts (0/2 3P)

Still struggling to see what will make Rubio a star in the NBA.

clarkem :That might be the most explosive dunk by a point guard ever. Only one better is Baron Davis’.

@dream catcher
he is much better than any games I watched

Oh. Just good. 42-39 at the half.
