Summer League Primer: Thunder vs. Magic

Who: Oklahoma City Thunder (2-1) vs. Orlando Magic (0-3)
When: 12 PM CDT
Where to watch: NBATV (Cox 256, 726 HD)

Video Stream: Right here

A couple notes: I don’t think James Harden is playing today, based on this tweet… The Magic have a couple nice players including Stanley Robinson, Patrick Ewing Jr and Daniel Orton, who may or may not be a nice player… Is it just me or is Paul Davis Ryan Bowen’s clone?… No word on Kyle Weaver and why he sat out yesterday… No Serge Ibaka again… Eric Maynor is doubtful… We’ll see a lot of Latavious Williams I’d assume today. He played well today and I’m sure the Thunder staff wants to see more.

@GAP

Yeah, ESPN decided not to run with the rumor, so it didn't get big publication. There are lots of pictures of the two of them together, lots of people who swear it happened, and no one who will deny anything. They just don't talk about it.

But I guess some investigative reporters were unable to uncover anything substantial enough to run with, so it's a dead rumor.

But for a long time it was a big underground story, and the conspiracy theorists said that James' one bad playoff game was the day or the day after he found out about it.

Just keep on with youtube'ing the subject, there's lots of stuff there about it.

Thunder is 1 center away from being virtually unbeatable

Lakers is 1 D rose from being unbeatable.

@OKC baby
haha roof meant fence

Yeah, I still thing the West is more dominate then the East. But those loses will make it easier on us in the West. Utah, Iam still on the roof with Milsap. He is good but has to be more consistent. Boozer seemed to be a good tag team for D will. But we will see

Chris Kaman could be good for them too...

The Jazz get a TPE for the Boozer S&T, think they might make a run at Al Jefferson?

@cwilson
Losing Stoud and Boozer doesn't make the West weak, in my opinion. I think it more organizational strength, not because we have all the good players.

OKC baby :@cwilson

Its making them closer to even. Utah and Suns were made lesser teams with their trades. But still early

I agree about the Suns but I'm unsure about Utah. I think Milsap will replace Boozer nicely if not this year than next. As for the Suns, I pretty much trust that they have a great plan for the future just based on their recent track record, which is reliable. Don't get me wrong I still like the west but I definitely think things are narrowing.

@f5alcon
Oh! Damn, I was hoping it was true...he he he (evil laughter)

@GAP
i think it was proven to be a false rumor

@Jax Raging Bile Duct
Hahaha, i'm completely shocked! Where have I been? I didn't know LeBron's mom had sex with Delonte West!!! :D

lebron should just sign a 1 yera deal so every summer he can do the same thing

lebron and wade havnt played full seasons in awhile, if any injuries stack they are so screwed

@justin

I'm leaning towards Cleveland on 3Y contract

Ny has some growing problems. Stoudemire improves them. Maybe they can do more willin and dealing before the season

@DXL
yeah they will score a lot, stop wing players, be destoyed inside by teams like the magic/ lakers/ nuggets

OKC baby :
East are going to beat eachother up. CHicago, Miami, Boston, Atl, Orlando now. Wow

Is there a potential power shift going on underneath our very noses??? I still like the way the west is building and I think the great GM's are mostly west. Time will tell...

I still can't believe LeBron is going to ditch Cleveland like this. He's going to be like Art Modell.

@OKC baby

then suckiness after those 5

What possible deals could there be for Miami if they sign the trinity? They'd have no cap space, no extra picks (Toronto's 1st rounder going back to them in Bosh sign and trade), and they will have renounced everyone's Bird rights (including good role players like Udonis Haslem). Who could they possibly trade? Mario Chalmers?

The veterans who took minimum contracts last year, aside from Jason Williams of Orlando, were all very bad players. And the vets available for minimum contracts this year will be worse because of all the available cap space. For a role player like Louis Amundson, why would he take $750,000 from Miami when he could easily get $3 or $4 million a year from the Nets or the Clippers or NY?

Sign the trinity and Miami's completely hamstrung until next offseason. They will NOT get a decent defensive center, point guard or 3-point shooter for the veteran's minimum.

East are going to beat eachother up. CHicago, Miami, Boston, Atl, Orlando now. Wow

Randolph and Turiaf were their only two passable defenders..

@justin
yeah warriors still need one more piece though

Steph Curry / David Lee might be a nice combination.

@justin
wll if lee goes to warriors that will be west, but still wont be at our level

justin :I don’t care much about where these guys go as long as they stay East.

Amen, brotha. It's a good time to be in the West.

I don't care much about where these guys go as long as they stay East.

6/80 is not bad at all for Lee. That deal would start at about $10.5 million:

10.5, 11.6, 12.7, 13.8, 14.9, 16.0

Basically 5/65 with a year added. I've been saying 5/65 all along...

@OKC baby
as much as i dislike stern he did get us the thunder

How many people doubt David Stern has anything to do with this? It reeks of it

@Frootloop
I think it will be a little of both. Mostly about lebrons "brand" and the team race. Or whatever you want to call it

PG, if that was too cryptic.

@f5alcon

I don't care much about the east but if LeBrand decides to become LeMagicKing I'll watch that.

@ThunderHorn
You just answered my question.. Interesting

6 years 80 million????? wow.

@OKC baby
Do you think they are going to discuss all the contenders for most of the hour and reveal his choice at the end of the show? Or do you think he'll voice his choice near the start and use the remains of the hour to hype up his new "superpower"?

He's supposed to give his decision in the first 15 minutes of the show. Guessing the rest will be interviews with him, interviews with the team that got him, and potentially a live feed of Cavs fans rioting and burning down his house.

Riley could also use further draft considerations to get more 2nd rounders out of this year's crop to fill out spots or maybe the rights for some euro willing to coming over to join that.

@Crow
yeah your right im sure they will find deals, i just hope they dont, i want to see the unholy trinity, chalmers and 8 d league players

Everybody in here is going to tune into that hour long show. I know:) Dont lie

@f5alcon

Top teams won't and maybe even eastern mid-level teams but I think mutually agreeable deals can be constructed, mostly from amongst the rest. I think it almost always can if you really try.

@Greg

I'd guess LeBron will be in the league longer than Wade. But maybe he walks away at some point, before he has to, for business reasons or having achieved enough or because of boredom with more of the same life or whatever.

@Crow
you would think other teams wouldnt want to help them out, after all nobody wants an unbeatable miami team, its not like it will sell more tickets, they already will sell out all the games
