Important breaking Thunder news: Air Congo now on Twitter

Yes, this absolutely deserves its own post. Serge Ibaka is now on Twitter. The player widely regarded by teammates as the funniest player on the roster will now hopefully grace us with his humor in 140 character or less.

Ibaka is and will likely always be one of the most intriguing and popular players on the Thunder roster. And for whatever reason, him being on Twitter finally just seems very important to me. Well, very important for a Sunday afternoon at least.

This finally convinced me to sign up for Twitter. I can’t believe I’ve gotten by not knowing what the Thunder Players are thinking on an hourly basis. That’s not even sarcastic.

It has no meaning whatsoever. ATH came up with it on draft day and it stuck.

So JG has no positives to his game. You don’t have to like this kid,but i think he put up about 15pts,7rbs.These are the best bball players in the world.Got to be something positive there.

Green regressed no doubt about it, for whatever reason he seemed to have no confidence.

He started off the year shooting poorly and it took him a long time to get out of that funk. Feb-Mar he was shooting much better(over 40% from 3) but he lost it again in April/May. Clearly affected the rest of his game because teams would lay off him daring him to shoot and not much difference between a 3 and a long 2 when you are struggling to shoot.

I think we all expected Green to take another step forward after a very good 2nd season. He averaged just under 17 and 7 in 08-09 and I think we all expected to see him get to 18-19 ppg and 8-9+ rpg but for whatever reason it didn’t happen.

I don’t necessarily think its all on the coaches scheme. Whatever way they use him he’s gotta make shots otherwise defenses will just lay off, I do think playing him a little more in the high post(like a lot of these stretch 4s are used) might help make him more effective as far as passing/creating.

However, I don’t think he’s a starting 4 on a title winning team(unless we have Dwight Howard or young Shaq next to him). Green as the 6th man is something that most, if not all, of us agree with.

    July 5th, 2010 at 15:02 | #29

Putting Green’s productivity in terms of ‘points / rebounds’ is very misleading. See here: http://www.basketball-reference.com/play-index/tiny.cgi?id=sli8u

The list of players in the last 20 years to play 3000+ minutes with a PER at or lower than Jeff Green’s this season. Mostly guys that were either over the hill or should not have been playing 3000 minutes in the first place (because they were chuckers, one dimensional, etc.).

Normally, a player like Green doesn’t play the minutes to accumulate totals such as ’15 and 7′. This has been rehased dozens of times, but Green is near the bottom among starting PF’s in rebound rate, scoring efficiency, and his defensive +/- is one of the worst in the last several years.

Anyone who expected Jeff Green to get to 19/9 after last year was just being foolish. There was nothing about him that suggested he was that kind of player. If he sticks around he should be coming off the bench, I agree.
