Saturday Morning Cartoons: Peter Rabbit rocks my face

(Good three-day weekend Thunder buds. Thank you for your support of Daily Thunder. Thank a service person sometime this weekend, won’t you?)

Peter Rabbit, which I assume is some sort of stage name, probably had my favorite halftime show of the year. He basically walked out in a Thunder jersey, introduced himself and banged around on some five gallon buckets. And it was awesome. He performed twice this year – once at a regular season game and once at Game 4 of the playoffs. Both times, Rumble came out for a little guest drumming and I loved it as much both times. Can we just sign him up for the duration of next season so we can avoid things like the Jazzericize routine and Rumba night or whatever that was?

Good stuff!
I played drums in a couple psych-punk bands in mid 2000's. Also, I've played piano since 4 or 5, and then trumpet in middle school, and then keys/organs in my first rock band in high school, then the stringed instruments(guitars, bass, ect.) in my current projects.
Music is my therapy and one of my greatest loves.
I just got my home studio up and running last Spring, so now it's time to see if I can engineer/produce/master and mix.

Gene Krupa, Buddy Rich, Nicko McBrain, Gavin Harrison, Vinnie Paul, and Animal from the Muppets are some of my favorites. I've been playing for 25 years in August. Started when I was 11.

@Lefty
Yeah, good call. The reason I posted this list is because I knew I'd forget some great ones.

Buddy Rich, you guys. Come on.

Also, just for a little fun: http://98and0.com/

WOW! That dude is technical. Wish I had chops like that.

Here's a good video of when Tony Royster was younger.

@Cpt. C-Note
Thanks! I've seen a lot of those, but never in one spot. Gabriel is an interesting character to say the least.

I named my cat Keith Moon.

While he may not top the list of my "favorite" drummers, I can watch the machine-like nature of Chris Adler for hours. Love dem feet!

@lilrip133
I'll check him out.

@Tapdog72
Sweet! Have you seen any of those early costumes?
here's a good link:

Wish there was a place for Dragic on this team. Love watching the guy, he's like Manu at the point.

@Cpt. C-Note
Selling England By The Pound is one of my favorites.

frankly. this is extremely awesome.

@Cpt. C-Note
also add as an honorable mention tony royster. Definitely the best drummer of the recent generation. And still in his early 20's.. which makes him even more impressive.

So this is an odd question, but is there any way for me to see the Thunder games from the first season here in Oklahoma? I'm going to have a bit more free time coming up in a few weeks, and if there were a way I'd love to see all those early games that I missed.

Carter Beauford needs to be in every top five drummers list.

Peter Rabbit was awesome... he also has a twitter and facebook account, so look him up. he needs more followers. he is a real nice guy

Yeah. Props to Phil for being the lead signer while drumming, but I prefer Peter Gabriel-era Genesis myself.

I've always been partial to Phil Collins. More his Genesis work than solo, but In the Air Tonight a good one. Not as flashy as many drummers, but very musical. Check out Duke or Trick of the Tail by Genesis. But yes, Peart (YYZ) and Bonham (Moby Dick) have to be in any top 5.

@James
That's cool, bro. I'm guess your a guitar kinda guy?

@Greg
Agreed. I'm a huge Beatles fan! Cream was also noteworthy.

@justin
Nice...Zappa was awesomely weird!

Not to be a party popper but the drummers don't do anything for me.

@Cpt. C-Note

Terry Bozzio!

Maybe this is a good time to name my top 5 drummers ever?(+1)

In no particular order:
Neil Peart (Rush)
Danny Carey (Tool)
John Bonham (Led Zeppelin)
Keith Moon (The Who)
Matt Cameron (Soundgarden + Pearl Jam)

Honorable Mention: Cater Beauford (Dave Mathews Band)

What say you, Thunder true?

Yup. I agree, Royce. I went to over 20 games this year and this dude was the best. I say have dueling drummers ever night.

You're just jealous you didn't get a Jersey Shore night like the Omaha Royals...

Peter Rabbit was definitely one of the better halftime shows.
