A little more from Boston

I found this post on the blog called Red’s Army, and I thought it was interesting enough to repost. Especially in line with Royce’s earlier post about Garnett’s post game comments, and his subsequent fine for said comments. The picture to the left is the first of a few more in an article called ” A referee’s guide to calling an Oklahoma City game“.

Click on over and enjoy some humor from the Boston perspective. I think it’s funny and creative even if it’s obviously intended to make a slanted point.

My take on the whole thing about Boston feeling like the Thunder got “all the calls” is that it is a little hypocritical. For me, from a fan’s perspective of many years, it seems that Boston, the Lakers and Cleveland complain about calls (all the while doing everything under the sun to draw calls) more than the other 27 teams combined.

But I digress. Enjoy a little Saturday humor.

appreciate the sentiment, however wrong, but that ms paint pic is even more wrong. time to spring for some real graphics software.

@Joe
Thanks. That's kinda what I figured.

I think whats really going on is that Boston realizes how fast they are falling. They sold their souls for that title now their big 3 are aging fast they have no cap room to make any moves. Anyone who watched the game knows that the thunder, who will finish no better than 6 in the west, were clearly the better team

I’m still trying to figure out what the “rip” move is…

The rip move as it is used here usually is done by Durant. What he does is when a defender is too close to him, and has his hand or hands on him, Durant rips his arms and the ball up through the defenders hands and arms in a shooting motion. It almost always results in a shooting foul because technically he is shooting the ball and getting fouled. In reality, he is just using that move to draw a foul and keep the defender's hands off him in the future.

The name I think comes from football, when a defensive lineman is being blocked when rushing the passer. The D-lineman rips his arms up through the O-lineman, which gets his hands off his chest and gets him off balance.

I'm still trying to figure out what the "rip" move is...

That's pretty funny stuff.

Here lies a different question. Do you care more about championships or sports idols?

I think in the grand scheme of things that you would find sports fans would answer that question both ways. Some prefer each.

I think for me I want my team to be a winner consistently, and if they get the golden trophy, so much the better. I don't identify or really get into the sports idol/player worship or role model thing at all, but I know a lot of people do.

Boston didn't blow their chance at anything because the fact is they drew the fifth pick, not the second. They didn't have a decision to make between kd or a championship; the lottery balls made it for them.

Simmons writes/podcasts about that question a lot. If Boston found the Hot Tub Time Machine, would they take a championship off the boardn for 10+ years with Durant et cetera? He argues you should....

As much as I love Durant I think you take the championship.

@shiki=4 seasons
They also had Delonte West.

@shiki=4 seasons

You forgot Pierce in those names. That would be a damn good team.

I read it and it is interesting.If they got KD in 2007,what would happen?They have Perk+Al Jerferson+KD+Rondo.It is better than thunder i think.And Boston is in Atlantic,the weakest in league.They abandoned the chance to be top teams in 10 years but for 1 champion.

It is not better than the Thunder. Can't assume that Boston would've put together the chemistry that the Thunder has now or done as well a job in the draft (if they even had similar # and position of picks in the draft). While that 4-man core may be as good or slightly better than any 4-man core (currently) that the Thunder has. The team overall wouldn't compare, probably wouldn't play as good a defense as a whole (maybe) and again, can't emphasize enough about chemistry and how far that goes. It makes a world of difference when you enjoy playing with someone.

This "guide" is hilarious. Did anyone read what the Boston fans wrote? Most were not blaming the refs and not acting like whiny Portland fans. I am glad when you can rip on teams in a funny, playful way.

From us,it is nice news that our young star gets call from refs.I dont mind how they think.In fact,many Boston fans I know still live in 2008.

It's funny they get so upset when we got 4 more fouls than them. We could do the same thing but anytime Nick or Serge touches a guy it's a foul.
