Saturday Morning Cartoons: Let Russell Dunk

(Good morning. Thank you for your support of Daily Thunder. Pass the toast.)

Dunk contest participants will be announced relatively soon and by the way it sounds, LeBron is backing off his promise and Dwight Howard is going to pass the torch. And from an earlier interview, KryptoNate likely won’t be there either. Now we know Kevin Durant humbly bowed out, but if there is one guy I know I want to see, it’s Russell Westbrook. He almost got there last year through the fan vote, but the whole country of Spain rallied to get Rudy Fernandez there. Westbrook’s of course got crazy leaping ability and he dunks like he’s angry. And I’m sure he could employ the help of The Broingtons to come up with some good ideas. We know Serge Ibaka can cram like a king, but hear me now: Let Russell dunk.

Sorry for the delay. It's up now.

grant phillips :
why is the pregame primer not up yet?

I second this.

why is the pregame primer not up yet?

Westbrook has been incredible lately.. i really think he's a future All Star in the making.. and he's definitely a notch above his fellow soph guards Rose and Mayo.. his ceiling is very high, with his quickness, speed, strength and athletic ability.. i really wanted to see Russ in the dunk contest last year and he would've been too, if not for Spain.. i'd love to see him make it, i remember Darnell or Baldwin a week or two ago said that in practice, Russ does some dunks that leave all the media guys' jaws dropped..

@Snowflake
They split the rankings into guards and bigs. Russ is No. 1 in the guard rankings.

Could anyone please let us know how Russ looks in the Sophomore rankings?

I don't think Russ would do well in a dunk contest.

He's a straight-line dunker, he doesn't have the hangtime necessary to be creative in the air, which is what it takes to win these days. Unless you're 5'6

This probably isn't very wanted on this forum, but if anyone has two tickets that they would be willing to sell or give away cheap for this game could you please e-mail me clarkem@ou.edu

Wasnt it cubans stats guy who said he wouldnt take durant even if he could have him for free

@josh
It maybe still on mark's twitter page. I can't remember all what was said
I hope he's not trying to lure him.

I still want to know what the hell mark cuban said to KD last night

I would like to see it happen as well. If the NBA used the Dunk In format last year RW would have made it.
