The Podcast: The one where we talk about radio hosts and the Thunder

I know, I know. Some weekly podcast. Well things got weird. I had guests but then it didn’t happen. So things are pushed back there. The life of a semi-unimportant blogger. Sigh.

But in the meantime, here’s some sounds of me talking to hold you over. I’m very excited about my guest today, even though it’s unlikely you will be. Today, we talk about:

  • My best friend, Jim Traber, and what his big freaking problem is.
  • The debate saying Russell Westbrook is NOT a real point guard and never will be.
  • Favorite Thunder players
  • The Thunder’s 4-4 start and what lies ahead for the next two weeks.

So let the sweet sounds of my possibly annoying raspy voice hold you over until next time. And I don’t plan on getting in a pissing match with The Ultimate, so hopefully this can kind of be my addressing of the matter. It’s all just very silly.

@KurtisWH
Yeah I definitely went and saw him. He was shockingly nice. That's what makes me think his radio thing is a bit of a schtick.

I find it funny that you went up and talked to him. He always claims no one ever comes up and confronts him, but if you did, that makes 2 people who have done it(me the other one).

Also, I emailed Traber about the whole "expert" comments. Traber likes to question the credibility of those who "come after him", but what makes Traber so credible on basketball? Before the Hornets, the Sports Animal personalities never talked about the NBA. So while you(Royce) may not have been an NBA junkie since birth, you have just as much credibility as Traber does as they have clearly only watched the NBA closely for a year or two.

I'm a fan and have tried following the players Twitter pages. Most of the time it's shorthand or slang that I can't read, personal or musical references I don't understand or otherwise generic information I couldn't care less about like what they're having for lunch or where.

Royce doesn't "re-post all their twitter post"... he only passes along things that are funny, interesting, or otherwise relevant things that reflect on team morale.

I for one very much appreciate him sorting through the chaff.

@Steve
I appreciate you reading. I'm a fan first and I try and highlight things I think fans want to see. Hopefully I make it easy on folks because if there is anything to see, I'll have it here. I'm sorry you don't like it. There is more to following a team and being a fan than just watching games. At least I feel that way.

I come to this site for the basketball information. Royce does a great job of posting the available radio and stream links. If one wanted to see the thunder player goof off, they could just follow them on twitter. I just think it's funny that he re-post all their twitter post (very Jenny Carlson like). Loving the thunders off days is a little creepy.

Chris :
Btw, does Traber remind anyone else of Kenny Powers from Eastbound and Down? Pretty strong resemblance if you ask me.

You're not the only one. Everyone says that.

Does Traber really go by "The Ultimate"? Ultimate what exactly? I never listened to him before he locked horns with Royce but I'm actually kinda glad he's in my life now. Good for some nice unintentional comedy in the afternoons.

@ steve

Yes, I really did watch the video about 30 times and no, I am not trying to get noticed by anyone.

@Royce
You know how you said that the guys who would start looking at this site because of the ultimate feud would likely be people you wouldn't want on your site. Case and point... Steve.

If trying too hard doesn't work, maybe try hard to get. I hear that works sometimes.

I like the drummers, but I really didn't see them at the Orlando game.

I also don't think Steve understands what a "blog" is.

@Royce
I'm especially confused by Steven's use of a comma between "hard" and "to".

@Steve
I'm very confused by this.

did you really watch the "say ah" video 30 times? Do you think that by blogging and re-posting the thunder players stuff, will make you their friend. You seem to be trying to hard, to get noticed.

Love it! roAD! Such a funny word!

Thought I would pass this on as well. I went to buy the Simmons book at B&N tonight and when I couldn't find it I went to the reference desk. There was another guy who was looking for it and when they told us were it was I asked him if he followed the Daily Thunder, he said that he did.

I asked he commented or not, he said that he did not. We talked a little bit and I found out that he works in Thunder management and that he had seen Simmons comments on the team from here the other day and that he wanted read more. General impression is he likes the site and is good with the controversy (he must be in PR).

Jax Raging Bile Duct :
Holy crap! Your wife knows me by my Internet name. That’s kinda weird.
Also, if the DailyThunder T-shirt design isn’t 100% done yet, is there any way we could add, in tiny print, something along the lines of “Royce > Traber”? Or, if we didn’t want to mention him by name, “Royce > The Ultimate”? Put it somewhere indiscriminate so it wouldn’t detract from the main theme, but so that those of us who are looking for it can just grin in our subtle protest of airwave idiocracy.

Either on the sleeve cuff, or better yet, put Royce on the sleeve cuff and Ultimate just below the armpit on the same arm so when you raise your arm to cheer at a game it shows.

roAd... that's a funny word... rooooaaaaad.

Enjoyed the podcast Royce. Enjoyed the insight of Mrsdailythunder as well. I think if we go 2-2 the next 4 would be amazing! I"m expecting 1-3 though. I think you are taking the high roAD in the Traber saga. I'm like you, I enjoy listening to what he has to say, but he does cross the line and I understand your approach to the matter. Just throwing it out there.

Nice Friends title reference.

Now, if your wife is such a good luck charm, why in the world aren't you taking her to every home game? And if the percentage holds based upon her attendance, I think road games might be where she is needed the most.

Why do I always crack up when I hear

" acted like they were calling his mom a hooker"

Thunder Up is my least favorite player too.
