The Greatest DT-Shirts of All Time

Via Mrs. Daily Thunder:

Royce was planning on putting up the t-shirt designs today but they weren’t ready when he left and I have no idea how to do it so the best I can give you is a link to the Tree and Leaf website. ENJOY!

Sounds like you have plenty of ideas but if you don't mind I'll mention a few anyways:

"Wild West
Brook 'n
To Be The Best"
(Westbrook as a Thundering Bison?)

"Kid Delicious
Smoove in [or with] the Groove"

Big K with the J
"Gettin' Krispy"

"POP
STOP
Your star just got dropped
SEFOLOSHA"

@Chas LOL, reminds me of Not Another Teen Movie, where the token black guy ran into another black guy at a party..Hilarious!

@DizzyDai
It's completely because Krstic is white.

@Chas
I don't get it either. I hope is it not because Krstic is white. That'd be stupid.

god, i will buy a zombie sonics shirt for everyone i know

lovin the tees
question how do i buy them?

nice work d man.... ill buy them all

It took me a while but it might help to know that Krstic is the token player.

Not sure how it will work with people casually glimpsing my shirt though.

i still dont get it.. someone please explain

@Anonymous

-stares at computer screen with face reddening from embarrassment- haha yes you are correct I completely missed it... forgive me hopefully my brain will be more functional the next time i choose to comment

I am all for subbing Ibaka in for Krstic. No-nads pretty much ruins that shirt for me...

Love the Zombie Sonics and Hardens is cool too. Go green is a little cheezy, especially for Oklahomans seeing as 98% of Oklahomans dont recycle....(Yes, I did just make that up). And the last one just confuses me. Is it the Thunder dream team....or are all the players good EXCEPT Krstic, Oh well, count me in for 2!!

@ Mrs.DailyThunder

I do a really good Royce signature, if you need me to sign some. I mean really.

Know how I got to DT today, guys?

http://kevindurant35.com/ <---From KD's blog. lol

ok thanks, might just have to buy one of each,but i dont want to rob others of having one...and yeah royce hates autographs, i know, and its not like these will be valuable or anything either, but 30 years from now when we have half a dozen championships, it would be fun to have the autographed royce young limited edition t-shirts.

@Mrs. Daily Thunder
and the autographs ...keeekeek :)

Royce can autograph them but we all know how he feels about autographs! I'm not sure how many are going to be printed, I'll ask when he calls tonight and get back to you all. He's going to be pumped to hear you guys like the designs!

im sure they have, but i have to post something, otherwise i feel like im not contributing,lol.

Anyway, how limited are these shirts? are they numbered, like shirt 1/50 or whatever? Can royce autograph them?

I promise you Royce and the awesome people at Tree and Leaf have gone through all the legalities. Thanks for your concern.

And like I said before, there will be more designs if these sell well. Royce and Dusty have A LOT of really great ideas. Thanks.

@Mrs. Daily Thunder
Woot! thanks Mrs. Daily Thunder. But we should (in theory) be able to bring up quite a few bolts ourselves :) but hey I'm not going to complain if you feel the need to post the bolts :)

i just dont want royce to get in trouble or anything, i dont know what id do without my daily dose of thunder.

Though obtaining permission from players/agents, the thunder and NBA would allow for more straightforward designs.

oh and http://www.citmedialaw.org/legal-guide/using-name-...

"As a general matter, you will not be held liable for using someone's name or likeness in a creative, entertaining, or artistic work that is transformative, meaning that you add some substantial creative element over and above the mere depiction of the person. "

So basically all those designs fit that and should be completely legal, as this is art.

@dork

I am going to try and look through Royce's emails and put something up tomorrow for those of you going through withdraws.

INAL, but the names are legal, its not like there are pictures on those shirts of the players or anything. We need more designs, a plain Daily thunder one would be good.

@Crow
I like the dailythunder idea. Could have several sayings on the back or front. Prefer Large images on the back.. but thats how all my t-shirts are.

hehe could even have a ZOMBIELAND in bold lettering with Durant,Harden,Westbrook and uncle jeff underneath it.

Or maybe there would be a way to incorporate Thunder and Zombie into a design that is more forward looking (I am not really looking back anymore.)

A "Thunder lovin' Zombie" tag line with maybe a pic of "Zombie" fan watching a game or just being happy.

I still like my idea of having a "Royce > The Ultimate" in tiny print somewhere. I may just ink it in myself.

I'd think a "Got Daily Thunder?" shirt or some variation could appeal / sell or be the other side of a T-shirt. If you want to say that innocently or suggestively. Or even just as a small design element.

Mike's Presti idea (presented pretty straight and patriotic) would probably sell, Be the easiest for some fans to go for / wear a lot.

Good luck, have fun.

@J.G.

Thats the ticket J.G. (heh i love puns) I think tomorrow we should all chip in and do the dailythunder.com Fan Bolts.

@dork
Along those lines...

Just wanted to give everyone the heads up that the Thunder front office is really putting on the full-court press on this Friday night's national broadcast, in an effort to fill up the Ford Center:

http://www.nba.com/thunder/national_splash.html

While we’re waiting for the Bolt, here’s a couple new articles I don’t think we’ve seen:
http://www.hoopsworld.com/Story.asp?story_id=14433
http://www.hoopsworld.com/Story.asp?story_id=14415

Please don't consult a lawyer until I have a chance to buy a Zombie Sonics shirt. Thanks.

@Keith

Thanks for your concern.

@Bernard

I just wanted to let you know that more shirts are in progress! We will definitely be releasing a KD shirt in the future, just think of it as icing on the cake! We also wanted to see how much support we could garner before we throw all our eggs in this basket!

Shirts will be available in about a week - week and a half. We'll definitely let you guys know! Thanks for the support.

@Keith
On the other hand, Daily Thunder is probably the best place for Thunder news anywhere and you might be able to strike a sweet deal with the Thunder PR department. Maybe give them a free ad space below the ESPN sidebar, keep up the good work, and they'd allow even greater access to images and personnel.

@Mrs. Daily Thunder
I would consult a lawyer friend if you have one. Basketball is still a business and businesses hate being undercut. That said, I think the only one of issue would be the Zombie Sonics. For one, I think the Sonics name and rights are still owned by the NBA, for two, the logo is close enough to be obvious, and fair use pretty much goes out the window when you start making money.

@Jax Raging Bile Duct

Haha no. But the logo isn't exactly like the "real" one. And I don't think the Thunder has the logo copyrighted anyway. As for the names, they are just names. No copyright infringement there.

@Mike Mariano

More shirt designs coming in the future if these do well.

Am I the only one concerned about the legality of using the names and likeness of all things Thunder?

I like the Zombie Sonics and Harden shirts.

also a christmas time release would be ideal (not that I needed to mention that)

I could do without the Krstic reference on the fab 4 shirt. What about Thabo instead? Or a thabo shirt in general? I get the 5 man concept, but Krstic pains me.

The Harden shirt is hilarious.

How about a Sam Presti shirt. Like in Sam we Trust with his glasses and hair like the harden shirt?

I think that "Zombie Sonics" is sort of an inside joke, but surely the casual fan will understand it.

Regardless, while wearing that shirt, I will feel like I'm honoring both the Thunder and Simmons while simultaneously sticking it to Jim "unpopular, low-IQ sports radio bull/host in non-Top40 market" Traber.

It's win/win(/win)!

Im having Bolt withdrawals today. This sucks.

Glad you guys like the Zombie shirt. I think that is Royce's favorite too.

As for the Durantula and Jet Zero shirts, I'm pretty sure more designs are coming but we wanted to see how many people would actually buy one. Royce has a TON of ideas.

And I think the pricing will be between $15-25 depending on the shirt. I can ask Royce when he calls tonight.

I like the zombie sonics shirt too. Im a little worried that its too much of an inside joke to wear in public though, as I don't live in OKC. Dunno if people will get it or not.

Any word on pricing yet?

Agreed, Zombie Sonics shirt is amazing. Royce should mail one to Simmons for free.
