Better "at"...

I'd think there is a decent chance Wilks will get a shot at coaching. At least assistant coaching. Possibly more if he has been really think alot about it / prepping and really wants it. I get the impression he can communicate with guys. At least another Presti "influence" on the team, if not more down the road.

Wilks is a interesting case.

His first season with Seattle he drive the lane like crazy and drew a lot of fouls but couldn't hit a jump shot. The second season the jumpshooting was much better but the inside action was average at best. 07-08 was basically tied for his best shooting season of his career. He has generally been just ok at passing the ball and turnovers unfortunately have crept up over the years rather than going down. He is better on D than you might think considering his size and he will steal the ball some. Better than darting in for defensive rebounds than you might think too.

Watching the Chi-Ute game, I have heard four references in the first quarter to avenging/coming back from the loss on Tuesday against the Thunder. To me, warm fuzzies for a Tryptophan hangover :)

Wilks was alright during his first run with Seattle, but if he’s on the court it definitely means the team’s got problems.
</blockquote>

The point is that Wilks is a notch above Bowen. Ollie will be back as will Livingston and Weaver. This is just a improvement for now.

I'd say Kevin Ollie is a rung above Mike Wilks.. Ollie was legitimate starting material for part of his career and has started over 100 games. Mike Wilks has only started 11.

Joe, those seem like good stats, but what scares me is, this guy can’t stay on a team. Why?
</blockquote>
He's definitely a third PG. Every team has one. A guy who is a practice player first and foremost and is a fill in guy. He's not a starter at PG in the association anymore than Ollie or Weaver is. Wilks and Ollie are just like our coach Brooks. Journeymen guys who make a nice living playing where they can make a roster. There are just only so many top tier guys like Deron Williams and Chris Paul. There are lots of quality backups out there and Ollie and Wilks are those guys. But, it also has to be said that Wilks is just like Ollie in that he is a high character guy. Every where he goes he is well liked and a professional. That's why he is with the team for a third time.

He was in training camp with Orlando last year. He blew out his knee. Think how different his career would have been had that not happened. Remember Jameer Nelson went down and Anthony Johnson was the only backup so they traded for Rafer Alston. Mike Wilks could have been that guy along with A.J. who played in the Eastern Conf finals and finals in front of the whole basketball world. But, fate didn't fall for him that way.

Crow is a seattle guy. He's seen Wilks. I am sure he will give his impressions of Wilks. Wilks is pretty fast and small. We don't have anybody on our roster like that. All of our guards are 6'3" or bigger.

We will really need another guard for tomorrow night. The Bucks are coming in and they pretty much play three guards all the time, sometimes even 4. Last night I was watching them on League Pass and they were in OT against N.O. and were using Brandon Jennings alongside PG Luke Ridnour and Charlie Bell. Three small guys. They also rotate in Mike Redd and Carlos Delfino and Jodie Meeks. All are 6'6" or smaller.

You guys will like Wilks. There is a roster spot for him now that Bowen has been released. I bet they keep Wilks until all of Weaver, Ollie and Livingston are healthy.

He's a 5'10" point guard with average athleticism, that is why he doesn't stick around. But he's good for what he is, a third string 'emergency' point guard. As a 15th man, with the current rash of injuries to our guards, he's certainly more useful to the team than Ryan Bowen.
