Thunder at Hornets: Preseason pre-game primer

okc thunder vs. no hornets

Oklahoma City Thunder (0-1) vs. New Orleans Hornets (0-2)

TV: None
Radio: The first hour is on 105.3 FM. The rest is on WWLS The Sports Animal (98.1 FM, 640 AM)
Time: 1:00 CST

View from the enemy: Hornets 24/7

Hello? Anybody here?

So who’s listening to the Thunder play a preseason game over watching OU-Baylor or the end of OSU-Texas A&M? Anybody?

Regardless, the Thunder will go ahead and play in New Orleans against the Hornets. Scott Brooks mentioned that he plans to mix up the starting lineups, so who knows what we’ll see. No word yet on Kevin Ollie, Nick Collison and James Harden’s statuses.

What to listen for:
In the preseason, you’re looking to sharpen little things. You’re going to see different lineups and guys that don’t normally play or aren’t even on the roster. So you just want to improve specifically in areas. One area I’d like to see better: 3-point shooting. OKC hit 2-13 against Memphis. Not that good. One interesting thing: Scott Brooks mentioned that he plans to switch up starting lineups throughout the preseason and work in different players. He said Friday that you’ll see more Serge Ibaka and Nenad Krstic Saturday and less D.J. White.

The good news is, with the replacement refs, after the OU game finishes, you can probably tune in to the second half of the Thunder game.

Tip at 1 p.m CST. Go everyone.

Looking at the box score, Russell had another good day. 8 assists, 2 rebounds (1 offensive), 3 steals and only one, little, bity, turnover.

I'll take an 8:1 assist to turnover ratio any day of the week.

He was a little cold from the field, but so was KD. Hard to imagine that KD goes 2 for 11 from the field.

I need to get a good look at Ibaka on the big screen. The little I've seen of him on the computer in Summer league didn't give a good chance to evaluate.

What I'm thinking is that maybe Ibaka pushes his way into the lineup as the backup Center. A run/jump/shot blocker/rebounder as the yin to Krstic's yang. I can vision him being a lot like Al Horford over in Atlanta.

I heard a little bit of this game on the radio. Sounded like Jeff Green was making up for a lackluster game at memphis. And Serge was really doing his thing. I can't wait to see that guy play.

Recap coming a little later as I attended a football game.

I might just be too excited for Serge, I did say months ago that he would be good and with his rebounding, hops and mobility he could come along and start PF by trade deadline. And ya'll can qoute me on that.

Ibaka 12pts 8rebs....I love da guy!

Guys, I'm pretty impressed with both Serge and Russ. At least, solely based off the box score.

Ibaka has 8 points and 7 boards in the first half! Harden is 2/2 on threes.

However, ESPN Game cast is working, so you can sort of follow along.

I guess I will just have to watch the #13 Oregon ducks beat up on UCLA's finest.

Ibaka seems real active, I keep hearing his name.

Isn't it actually CDT since we're still in daylight time?

I feel that we are being punked for an OU game that doesn't start until 2:30?

I feel weird for saying this, but I'm actually looking forward to it.

FYI...Tip is 2pm EST, which is 1pm Central, not that anyone cares with the OSU and OU playing :p
