The Rumbling Herd – Ep. 2

This week on what’s still going to be called The Rumbling Herd for now:

  • I talk with my buddy Andy about the Ford Center fan experience. What’s good, what’s not and whatever else.
  • We make some bold and not so bold predictions about the upcoming season.
  • We talk about branding the Thunder and how the team can get to the recognition level in this state along the lines of OU and OSU.
  • And we bullcrap about… crap.

Anyway, hope it kills some time on this lovely Friday for you. And hopefully some of the mixing/sound issues have been at least… improved. Next week I’ll hopefully have a little more prestigious guest on. No offense Andy. Oh, and maybe a new name too. Who knows. It’s the hook that brings you back. Yee-haw.

nice podcast, you should have your buddy on regularly and went on interesting topics, but i do have two suggestions:

-get some better equipment for recording your guest. It would already help to make him louder, your voice was much louder than his.

-at some points you seemed a little lost, maybe better preparation would help

not trying to come off as nagging here, just helping you improve!

@justin

I wouldn't say we're comfortable, although I think we're better off than we were last year when we actually started Watson at season open. I have to say that neither Livingston nor Ollie have quite met my expectations in the preseason, but I think they'll help us get at least a win or two.

We actually discussed this very thing in a recent episode of our Thunder podcast, OKC Thundercast. here's the episode link: http://www.okcthundercast.com/2009/10/27-on-guards...

My Predictions (since no one is asking)

Magic - Eastern Conference
Spurs - Western Conference
Spurs - NBA Champs
Vince Carter? - MVP
Kevin Durant - MIP
Kevin Durant - All Star & Top 5 scoring
Thunder 8th or 9th in the West (possible playoffs run)

"The Rumbling Heard" might actually be a better name. At least it will relate to Thunder better, plus give a nod to the audio aspect of a podcast.

Mike Wilks was my favorite third PG.

Antonio was the man in the 52 win Sonic season. He finished nearly all the games. He's a bit older now, but AD doesn't want to just play occasionally. He wants some minutes.

Apart from the backup level issue, Westbrook better not miss any games, or by "off"...

So we're comfortable with Shaun Livingston and Kevin Ollie as our backup point guards..?

@justin
Kevin Ollie is enough veteran presence for me.

This is off topic but Antonio Daniels was waived by Minnesota today. He probably wants to go to a contender but I think he'd be a great fit, good veteran presence.

@Jax Raging Bile Duct
I sure do. That's a good idea. I moved this stuff onto my actual server instead of using a free hosting site so the Presti thing probably expired. I'll get it back up.

Actually, hopefully I can have Sam back on soon. That would be good.

@KingGondo
Yeah, KD doesn't seem like the guy who would be bothered by that and would actually prefer some anonymity to an extent.

@Royce
Wow...so does the Billboard actually go up now? Odds at that happening up to 50/50 at this point?

Royce, do you still have that podcast you did with Sam Presti a few months back? Maybe you could recycle that one - it was pretty good. It would at least be nice to have it listed when I click the little podcast link.

Just a thought.

@J.G.
It's true. The said, "Your ONLY chance to see Blake Griffin this year!"

@J.G.
Agreed. I was a bit ashamed that KD said he doesn't get recognized at many places in OKC. Who knows though--maybe he gets enough recognition everywhere else, it might be nice to go incognito every now and then.

You should rename it "Royce and Andy Awesome Show, Great Job!"

So they actually DID advertise the Clippers game with Blake ("Come see Blake Griffin!") being the primary attraction?!

I was somewhat joking about them making a billboard of Blake on I-35 for everyone to "come see him" but the fact that they actually said that at the game...wow.

Couldn't agree more about them needing to sell THE THUNDER instead of the Thunder's OPPONENTS to the people of Oklahoma.
