Saturday Morning Cartoons: Previewing the Thunder

(Hola compadres. It’s a beautiful day in the world. Thanks for your wonderful support of this here website. Thunder up.)

In case you missed NBATV’s Thunder preview from earlier in the week, here it is. Or at least some of it. If can stand Rick Kamla’s “I’m a Professional Announcer” voice, it’s decently informative and nice to watch. It’s got some good interviews with Kevin Durant, Shaun Livingston and Russell Westbrook.

Just four days cats and kittens. That’s it. And then we GET IT ON.

At the start of the video, KD does a nasty crossover on Howard from the Mavs. Does KD not realize he is freakin 6’10′? lol He has insane athletic abilities. I will be fun watching him grow as a player.

Notice that Jeff Green referred to Byron Mullens as B.J.

I guess this has something to do with the Thunder since he played on the summer league team. Tony Durant talks so much crap about OKC on his twitter account. I guess the reason I am upset about it is that he is living off his brother who just so happens to be our Superstar. Am I wrong for getting upset with him?

I haven’t seen it. What’s he been saying?

Can you explain the “cats and kittens” thing? It’s starting to make me feel weird. Maybe I just don’t get the reference.

I guess it just gets me because its KD’s family talking trash. It makes me wonder if KD, (away from the public) feels the same way. I know KD would never say it but it just makes me wonder. I guess I could just not follow Tony on twitter anymore. lol Problem solved. lol

I’m glad you said something about it. I think it’s newsworthy. I’ll probably put together a post about it.

I hope this does not start anything like the Traber vs Nick thing. I just wanted to know if it was just me being petty or if it were really something.

  13. October 24th, 2009 at 18:04 | #13

Hopefully KD squashes him. Freeloading family members can be a headache for the newly rich.

I think Royce should use his new media creds. to set up an interview with Tony. It would make for a great podcast.

I’ve thought about it for a while, and I would recommend just letting it alone. First, you know the kid has to be disappointed that he’s not playing ball somewhere. It can’t be easy to have a brother who makes things look so easy, and then you can’t ever get an offer to play overseas. Second, there is nothing to be gained from it. You know KD – even if he doesn’t agree – is going to have to defend his brother, and that has a greater chance of poisoning the well. Lastly, if Tony doesn’t like being in Oklahoma City, big deal. It’s not like living in DC, and I can see why someone who grew up there might find OKC less exciting.

Let’s just be glad we get to watch and enjoy the Durant that we’ve got, and leave it at that.

    I agree with Martz.

It is fairly disappointing to see those tweets though.

Ignore Tony Durant. He sounds like a little punk who’s only anything in life because of KD. Let it go. He’s not worth it.

    This is reasonable.

I hear you Martz. It’s a good point but at the same time I find it as interesting info honestly. I wouldn’t be trying to stir anything, more just highlighting some odd comments. I’m thinking about it.

Now it’s weird if I post it because everyone has their opinion on it. Hmmm…

  22. Warren
    October 24th, 2009 at 22:36 | #22

You guys are right I guess. I just think it is odd that a guy, who had only one city give him a shot at the NBA, would turn around and trash that very city. It still makes me wonder how KD feels. Not that we would ever really know.

  23. Gar
    October 25th, 2009 at 00:16 | #23

Frankly at this point it would be weird if you didn’t post about it. Clearly everyone here thinks it’s noteworthy enough to talk about. And considering the controversy surrounding Collison’s comments about *weather*, and the amount of coverage that garnered, I’d say this at least deserves a blog post. Then again I don’t want to upset KD.

My only problem is that KD recommended that people follow Tony a few days ago. KD shouldn’t recommend his bro when he acts like that.

    October 25th, 2009 at 10:24 | #25

I think Tony just misses everyone knowing who he is in D.C. He seems kind of dumb too so I wouldn’t get too bent up about it “baaaaaaaabe”.

  26. October 25th, 2009 at 12:58 | #26

Tony’s tweets are something that I’ve read a lot from people really tight with KD.

Some of his friends in DC were tweeting about how after next season it would be nicer that KD would playing ball in DC or closer to home.

    October 25th, 2009 at 13:30 | #27

Yeah, right. You’ve got the scoop, Jimmy.

  28. Keith
    October 25th, 2009 at 14:13 | #28

KD is a good kid. Being a younger brother myself, it’s hard to realize that they guy you looked up to all your life is just another guy, or worse not even average. You want to see them succeed, even if you don’t agree on how they do it. Tony obviously has some attention issues (but honestly who wouldn’t if their brother was KD), and KD is simply trying to give some of that back. When he says, “Follow my brother’s twitter,” it’s not about him endorsing the things Tony says, it’s about getting his brother some spotlight.

As for Tony not liking OKC, it really has little impact on OKC. Tony is a mid-20 year old who doesn’t work and probably is only awake from 2pm to 4am. If your entire life revolves around tweeting and partying, you probably do like DC better, since there are dozens of clubs and all sorts of “degenerate element” to take part in. Heck, given the crap we see senators and reps getting into there, you can only imagine the stuff a guy like Tony could do. It’s not an indictment that someone whose life is made for Vegas doesn’t like OKC. KD likes it, and likes the people he works with here. KD being more subdued as a person and having a great deal more responsibility, it just speaks to the kind of people OKC appeals to.

Ryan Bowen has made the team.

    @Kevin
Ahhhh, the voice of doom speaks. Well, if Tony isn’t happy, I doubt KD will have much interest in signing that six year max contract to play with all these guys he has been adroitly pretending to be friends with. Damn, and we were so close to putting a nice team together.

That was me chiding pseudo-troll Kevin about the bad news from KD’s inner-circle. I hope that wasn’t too confrontational for some of the gentle spirits who frequent this blog. Its cyber-space fellas. Nobody ever walks away with a bloody nose. Good to hear about Bowen- he should be a positive influence in both the locker room and the practice facility.

I’ve looked at Tony’s tweets for the past month, and other than one comment about – what else -the weather, the only comments came after a mall cop told him he couldn’t wear his hood.

Plus, I was an idiot when I was 23. I can’t hardly hold against anyone else.

  35. Gar
    October 25th, 2009 at 18:17 | #35

Martz: what about when he says “i wish i was at home with yall instead of Oklahoma Shitty”

    https://twitter.com/TonyDurant35/status/5114685647

or when he says “chillin in wack ass OKC”

    https://twitter.com/TonyDurant35/status/5028913446

I find that much more offensive than what Collison said.

    October 26th, 2009 at 09:11 | #36

    @Gar
I’m not saying that I like or agree with what he said. Both of the tweets you referenced came after the hood in the mall deal on Oct. 16. Certainly they are more inflammatory that Nick’s weather-related comments. I’ll admit that part of my reluctance to make too big a deal out of it is because of idiots like Traber.
