Finally, we can be done with these meaningless, pointless games. I want to lose for real! (Or win…)

Kevin Durant played 35 minutes in Austin Tuesday night, Russell Westbrook saw extended minutes and Jeff Green played a solid amount. I’d bet that all three of their minutes are cut down somewhat tonight. Darnell Mayberry presumes that we’ll likely see no strange lineups and the actual rotation tonight, but for how long? I don’t really know what to expect since there are six days off before the opener.

The roster stands at 16 now with the cutting of Michael Ruffin, so I’d assume as well Ryan Bowen and Mike Harris might get a little burn as well. Maybe one last push to make the roster.

Desmond Mason returns to the Ford Center which is nice, as well as the first appearance of Tyreke Evans, a player I’m very intrigued by. A matchup of him and Westbrook would contain so much athleticism, I think I might tear my ACL just watching.

No TV for this one tonight, but I will be in attendance and thanks to a friend, sitting in very solid seats. I’ve got to soak up these fan experiences while I still can (/elitistmediaview). So even though it’s preseason and the best players are likely not to play a ton, I’m very excited.

Tip at 7:00. Go Thunder-Mifflin.

J.G. :
Did anyone really expect to see them show ANYTHING to the team they will have to play again in 6 days when it really counts?
A little too much Chicken Little Syndrome right now (though the monsoon of threes is a bit troubling, no?).

It's just that Brooks told Darnell that neither team would hide anything. He said that scouts are too advanced in the NBA and that each team knows the other team's tendencies already.

Keep in mind we are playing the same team in 5 days, and this time it actually counts. Not saying we didn't play like crap, but if we play like this on the 28th then ill start to get worried.

Not to mention, Westbrook played 14 minutes, Krstic played 17, Green played 21 and Durant played 25.

On the bright side, I think it's obvious that Ibaka will get a shot at some minutes on this roster: 9 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 block and 1 steal in 22 minutes. Yes, please.

And Harden continues to improve and show the versatility of his game...but boy I hope his shot starts falling better/he makes it easier on himself by taking better shots (a problem ALL rookies have).

And Warren, I bet the Thunder players see more lineup stability and game situations in the next 5 days than they saw tonight (or maybe even all of preseason).

@J.G.
I hope your right, but I keep thinking of the term, you practice how you play and preseason is basically practice.

I know its just preseason, but this is depressing. I hope this is part of a big opening night plan. < I know, wishfull thinking.

@Jax Raging Bile Duct
I don't recall any big corner threes, but I remember a litany of threes from everywhere else. Sigh

I was sitting eight rows back and was bored out of my mind.... Come on brooks put a foot somebody's @55

Bleh.

Evans looked good - you can tell the dude's got a height and reach advantage. The box score said 2 blocks, but they missed one, because he had 3 blocks on Russell alone. Maybe one of them was credited somewhere else or discounted for a foul, but it was there.

Thabo can't hit his shot yet, and the defense knows it, and it sags big time when he's in the game.

The defensive rotations are still slow. The article by Darnell that Royce linked in the bolts today talks about the shell defense and how 3 point shots are usually open. Brooks wants to take the corner 3 away, but he's satisfied to let the others fly. So far, that shell defense is really hurting us.

I liked what Etan brought tonight. 9 boards is right for him.

Bold prediction: Kyle Weaver will take Livingston's spot in the rotation this season.

That was pathetic... I mean really really pathetic! No, no, I mean really effen pathetic!!!

Recap coming. On my way he from the game.

@Vega
I've been wanting Azubuike on this team since last spring. Presti needs to make that happen.

Turiaf would be helpful as well.

Not sure I want to lay this out there, but what the hay? I am not feeling the love for Scottie Brooks @ the moment. It preseason is just "practice" then I want to see some teaching and "coaching" going on!!! We aredown 25 points, and he has not so much as MOVED in like 12 min of game time WTF?!? Chew somebody out, throw a chair, SOMETHING!!

@Vega Can we have Biedrins too?

Bench production? I recommend placing an order to the Golden State Warriors for one Kellena Azubuike in exchange for one Phoenix first-round draft pick.

You can start hoping for a lottery pick and John Wall to be the sixth man. Bench needs some production and Kyle Weaver don't give that.

I know preseason games don't count but....dear lord.

Royce-- I don't know if you are watching this close, but Desmond is breaking MY HEART!! After the half, he called KD over during warm-up and was literally GIVING HIM ADVICE for DEFENSE!! Just like he was still his teammate!! Sighs..... I miss Desmond.......

I respect what Mason has to say. He did play a couple seasons with, and was also traded with Gary Payton, so his opinion an informed one at least. But, still, I can't really see Tyreke Evans being a point guard. A player yes, but a point guard no.

Even Detroit, which decided after a season that Stuckey is their PG of the future is rethinking that and may start Bynum instead.

I know it's just preseason, but the last two games with 'normal' rotations have been very discouraging. The defense just has not been there, and this team doesn't have the firepower to out score teams consistently. I was hoping that a full offseason with Scott Brooks would help out the team defense and it still is not there at all.

Unless this team improves its defense they're not going to win more than 30 games this year.

A 7PM/Thursday tip-off complete with an Office reference? Nicely done.

they dont let you sit in media row with darnell?

@Kev

I was sure he was going to say that Evans reminded him of Russell, since they're both athletic combo guards who are better slashers than shooters. But I guess Mason was impressed with that post up game and that's what stood out to him.

I'm sure the King's fans will pee their pants if Evans turns out to be that good of a defensive player.

Mason . . .

Evans and Payton are totally different players . . .

too funny . . .

OH! And he also said the only rookie point guard that he's seen who was better than Evans was CP3.

On the radio this morning, Desmond Mason said the only person he could compare Evans to was Gary Payton, due to his post up game.

Royce, I'm very interested to see how Evans plays against Westbrook tonight. Let me know how badly he puts it on Russell.

See ya there... I'll be the guy with $10 tickets sitting right behind bench.... hey, it's preseason.

I'm jealous Royce! I will only see one game live this year and it is in March in Indy.
