D.J. White and James Harden helped out at the Great State Fair of… Okla-homa! yesterday. [video]

SI’s Britt Robson on Tyson Chandler: ”Now that Chandler, according to at least one doctor, is certifiably prone to another toe injury, was Charlotte unwise to pick him up? How can Chandler be too risky to warrant trading Wilcox, Smith and Hardin in February but, after another ankle aggravation in March, is suddenly able to fetch Okafor, Charlotte’s younger franchise cornerstone? The answer is that, along with the long-term payroll savings, the Bobcats obtained a player who has a larger upside and is more compatible with their personnel. And Charlotte had the guts to roll the dice on Chandler — imagine that, a group with Michael Jordan in it making a gamble — who had operations on both his ankle and his toe in May and then rested during a summer that didn’t even include pickup games.”

John Lucas III, who spent last year’s training camp in Oklahoma City, will be spending this year’s in Miami: “Lucas attended camp last year with the Oklahoma City Thunder, not seeing action before being released three games into the regular season. He recently was selected by the Maine Red Claws in the D-League expansion draft.”

Houston unveiled its first ever alternate uniform yesterday (kind of has a nice Vernon Maxwell, Otis Thorpe throwback feel). YOUR MOVE OKLAHOMA CITY UNIFORM PEOPLE.

If you’re looking for the Thundergirls official website, don’t try Thundergirls.com. It’s safe for work and there’s nothing crude about it. But… yeah.

This says it all: KevinDurant35: “Goin to relieve some stress at the gym…see yall lata.”

Just 34 days until the season starts and five until training camp begins. It’s coming people. But with that said, there’s nothing going on in the Thunder news world. I had to resort to linking to some female wrestling league. Hopefully there’s more tomorrow.

Durant - Green- Krstic - Sefolosha - Westbrook was -18 on Adjusted +/- last season. It was only 280 minutes but it was used more than anything else and given the error estimate there is far less than a 5% chance based on statistical theory that lineup was actually positive despite how the estimate came out and a 2/3rds chance in a larger trial it would show itself to be -10 or worse and an even greater chance it was at least -5 per 48 which is enough to nick the scoreboard results at least a bit or more for the time used.

If you have faith in the method and assumptions. While I use adjusted a lot, I was actually one of its toughest reviewers at APBRmetrics.

But we'll see how Thabo does next season with certain guys. Sure try it with Durant and / or Green one more time (even though I wouldn't emphasize it, I expect it for some of the plenty of remaining minutes that will go to lineups outside the top 12), then decide. It is another experimental season but it also has to be the turning point for making decisions and getting it right for year 4, 5, etc.

Vince, I can analyze stats just fine, better than almost anyone I've found on the net. I said Thabo was lower on adjusted than Weaver in OKC (admittedly a small sample) and I could/should of added that he was negative on adjusted in the early part of season in Chicago and the season before that and (barely) the season before that. He hasn't never been positive on Adjusted +/-in his career. I can usually say even more than I do but I simplify to try to meet the situation. I've developed analytic methods that can be done now and could be done with further research & development for lineups and player pairs that I haven't seen anywhere else and have sparked some e-mail communication with another GM and really should spark even more interest in my opinion.

But this dialog is a bit too much hassle right now.

Thanks for the balanced feedback Lefty. I know I am not without fault. i understand the reactions even if I'd wish for more slack.

I'll probably be back sometime early in the season to follow-up of what I said I would but this will eventually come to an end when I am totally done with what I want to say.

I would also be interested in joining the second fantasy league if there is still room.

I'd take Okafor in a New York minutes FWIW.

I'm still wanting to buy tickets, but I can't figure out how.

Where do I go to put in the promo-code?

I hope Seattle gets a team soon - not for its fans, who i dont care about - but because those awesome uniforms need to be in rotation again.

If you still have room in the second league, Ill join.

Kevin :
And one more thing to everyone on this board… thanks for supporting the team that I supported for 22 years of the 27 years I have been on this planet.

That team, with it's colors, name, and banners, still lives in Seattle, just in hibernation. (Somebody tell that to Portland, btw.) But, thanks for supporting the Thunder--the team I've supported since my mid thirties.

@KingGondo
I also got the "weekend" package, but needed to get some can't miss games.
I hope they do the food-drive thingy again this year. Last year my wife and I brought 6 cans of food and got tix to 3 different games in last Feb!!(Griz, T-wolves, and Clipps)
No too shabby for 6 bux in food!!(good trade value and people got food!)

That and, fairly or unfairly, he has a different opinion than the majority of the board. Most people here are behind what Presti is doing, and believe we're headed in the right direction. Crow isn't as sold, and being in the minority just makes him an easy target (maybe the only one? Is there any other regular poster who feels the same way as Crow?)

It's probably unfair, but that's how the internet works. Also, Crow posts a lot, and sometimes it's hard to read them all, so maybe we're missing out on a lot of what he's trying to say, also. I don't know. I think he generally makes pretty good points, even if I don't agree with him.

Crow :
Thabo would be used but not with Durant and not with Green who were by far his worst pairs.
He didn’t fit with them and the organization’s most favored lineup last season with him with the starters was about the worst.

Crow --

You can regurgitate statistics, but you can't analyze them. That's why there's a general condescension toward many of your posts. Going to a website and using player pair data to make judgments on a player who played 23 -- twenty-three! -- games in a Thunder uniform is silly. It's like flipping a coin five times, getting four heads, and assuming that the coin is weighted. The sample sizes are way too small.

Basketball stats have advanced, but they're notoriously subjective, and different formulas can produce wildly different ratings. You produce stats from 82games.com or wherever and assume that they are all you need to prove your point. This is not baseball -- it's far more subjective statistically and analytically.

You mean, Collison has FRIENDS in Seattle, too? It's not just the weather he likes better? That's it, he's got to go.

(I know the joke is weeks old now, but what else can we talk about?)

And one more thing to everyone on this board... thanks for supporting the team that I supported for 22 years of the 27 years I have been on this planet. Please actually get the arena full and do not boo them.

And watch out for my boy Nick Collison. He's a friend and he does love playing in front of you guys.

@Royce

Hey Royce,

Can you email me, I wanna talk to you about a couple things.

Thanks,

kevin

Don't like my critique of Presti and the organization? That's fine but tell me you've never critiqued a player or management or thought that if others disagree you shouldn't say it.

@RH
Hmm. It came up for me. Try a hard refresh (hold down shift + refresh) or maybe clear your cookies I guess.

Nevermind. Figured it out. I had to click the link from a promo email and couldn't go through the normal Ticketmaster website.

Ticketmaster keeps telling me that tickets aren't yet available. Any ideas?

Alex, because he is 4-7 points better on Adjusted +/- (depending on what version you use) and his a better shooter and passer and the offense actually needs more help. And because Thabo-KD was toxic last season.

But to clarify the 12 lineups I listed wouldn't necessary be used the same amount. Thabo would be used but not with Durant and not with Green who were by far his worst pairs.
He didn't fit with them and the organization's most favored lineup last season with him with the starters was about the worst.

And thanks Alex for talking basketball instead of adding to the empty smirking / personal shots of a few others including Royce.

@Crow
I was checking out your top dozen line-ups and I was wondering why you included Thabo in only two of the line-ups, putting Weaver ahead of him in most cases?

@okcnba
Miami is a winnable game, I'm not kidding myself with the other two. :( Celtics are beatable if KG isn't 100%.

@Jax Raging Bile Duct
He's absolutely an upgrade over what we have now... I just question that he's worth 6 years and $72 million. But considering how inflated the market is for inside players, maybe paying that much for a good character guy/consistent double-double threat is pretty reasonable.

If you wanna see a win maybe you need to stop buying lakers, celtics, and heat tickets.

I did the Pioneer 10-game pack a couple weeks ago, but I still wanted to be there for the opener as well. So I got a couple tickets to the Kings game as well. I'm looking forward to it for sure, and hopefully we will be 1-0 by the end of the night.

@KingGondo

Maybe you think Okafor hasn't made an impact yet in his career because he's on a team that isn't in the news much. I'd venture to say that he's pretty highly regarded in basketball circles.

Got my tickets--Lakers, Celtics, and Heat! :) We win 1 out of 3, and I'll be happy. Still haven't seen them win in person yet. :(

That article on Chandler really puts things in perspective well. So many NBA GMs rely on upside and swing for the fences with every move, even when it's with a highly injury-prone guy like Chandler. Reading the article made me wonder, too--if Okafor is so much more expensive than Chandler over the long haul, doesn't it make sense that the Hornets might be willing to dump him, too? He's expensive and hasn't made a huge impact yet in his career, but he would fit the character of this team and help our inside presence greatly.

So far I've got single game tix to opening night, The (Hated)Lakers, and when Lebron and Shaq come to town in Dec!!! I can't wait!! 34 more days, right!?

I still think the reneging of the Chandler trade was more financial than anything else.

You can do what you did Dooney or you could actually read or comment on the dozen lineups I picked or listen when I check it later. Or read a completely plausible alternative Thunder roster. But taking your approach is so easy. And just as meaningless to me as you apparently feel my comments were. Except mine were about basketball.

Wow... that makes me really homesick.. The cinnamon rolls are the heat! And hearin the jingle (Ok-lahoma is the best i think), doesn't help any. Speaking of jingles... the BC Clarks one is just around the corner for you fellas still in the Land of the Red Man. That's one you never forget!

Being a Rockets fan as well(since we didn't always have the Thunder), I'm pretty stoked about the uni. It at least takes me back to the time when we consistently won playoff series! What color would you like to see dominate our alternate should we get one? I'm for the Red/Orange color, personally with the secondary being the dark blue outlined in the yellow. I think that would be on point!

@Jax Raging Bile Duct
"The choke's on her!" slayed me.

Whew... It's really slow in NBA world lately. How are we supposed to get our smart thoughts of the week in when this is all we have to work with?

I do have to say that I had the best laugh of my day when I followed the download link from thundergirls.com. The caption of the picture was "The choke's on her!", and I'm still laughing about it. I then forwarded the link on to the rest of the Internet world, just like a responsible Internet citizen should.

@Dooney
So you're saying I totally blew it? I think Ok-lahoma probably would have been the best.

Oh and this comment is pretty much brilliant. I love the intro.

Let me preface this comment by saying that I've finished top 3 in my Fantasy Football Leagues the past 3 years and my girlfriend's brother-in-law asked me to help coach her nephew's soccer team for 4-year-olds.

I would have gone "The Great State Fair of Ok-lahoma" rather than "The Great State Fair of Okla-homa or I would have accepted these top half-dozen alternatives:

-The Great State Fair of O-klahoma
-The Great State Fair of Okl-ahoma
-The Great State Fair of Oklah-oma
-The Great State Fair of Ook-lahoma
-The Great State Fair of Ooo-klahoma
-The Great State Fair of Ok-la-homa

But I've said enough. Though you can determine for yourself by going to http://www.okstatefair.com/. I'll wait. And next... I will argue with myself.
