I think his agent overestimated the market. Teams are so strapped for cash right now that they are totally parsing the difference in minimum salaries for veterans and rookies. While it used to be that teams were willing to shell out millions for a bench player, now they won’t pay $1MM when they could get a D-Leaguer for $600K.

Mason should have taken the Thunder up on the towel waving offer because I think it would have made it more likely the team would have offered him a front office position when the contract was over.

On the other hand, the Kings probably offer a better chance at getting some playtime. Sacramento’s fanbase is more mature when it comes to NBA knowledge and they are going to be less patient watching young guys fail. They’ll command some veterans get on the floor.

That’s pretty cool they’re all going to KD’s b-day together…This might be the most chemistry a starting line-up has ever had…although I hope Uncle Jeff hasn’t been left out…He has to be invited, right?!?
