Thunder 2009-10 schedule

UPDATE: It’s officially out now.

The schedule doesn’t “officially” come out for another hour, but due to a little snafu on NBA.com, we got the whole thing here. Of course, unless they change it between now and then. So keep that in mind. Just one nationally televised game (Dec. 16 at home against Dallas) which is disappointing, but there’s potential to get more picked up the more you win. Look it over and I’ll be back with a good little breakdown in a bit.

I think that Russ will be our best weapon against the Lakers. D-Fish won't be able to keep up with him.

we will do better then the 1-12 last season that we started off with, in our first 13, the lakers and orlando are the only unwinnable games, the clippers and kings and home should be wins, and on the road are possible, houston is gonna be bad this year with no true center collison is 3 inches taller then theirs and ariza is a shooter not a slasher so we should be able to defend against him, so we can win that one, im gonna say we lose to the pistons because of our bad play on the road, same with miami, but we beat the wizards and either portland or SA at home.

So somewhere between 4-9 and 6-7 to start the season, for the kings it comes down to how well evans plays point.

our next 13 is easier 7-6 is attainable, putting us at .500 26 games into the season.

Wow that is a nightmare to think about.. Kobe and Artest.

At least we get to end the season at home. All three seasons OKC has had a team they ended the season on a three game road trip.

@Jax Raging Bile Duct
Definitely...Thabo will be on Kobe...& Artest on KD...

Chris Sheridan had this to say about OKC and the schedule so far...

Nov. 14: Oklahoma City at San Antonio
Both teams are off the previous night, which means Spurs general manager R.C. Buford probably will take his former assistant Sam Presti out to dinner and Presti will get carded. (The guy looks about 19 years old.)

Nov. 22: Oklahoma City at L.A. Lakers
TiVo alert. If we are correct in our above reference to the Thunder being a sleeper team, this will be one to watch: Kevin Durant versus Kobe (unless Scott Brooks makes the unwise decision to let bearded rookie James Harden check No. 24).

Pretty funny about Presti being carded. But we all know that neither KD nor Harden will draw Kobe's defensive assignment. The majority of that job will go to Thabo.

Man, that duo of Texas A&M at Oklahoma on Nov. 14 and then the Clippers and Blake Griffin at OKC the next day is a hell of a combo.

Is there any way I can just "like" this? I'm gonna work on getting tickets immediately.

@Ty
That sounds about right to me. I've got them in the 32-36 range with potential to get to 37-40 if James Harden surprised or Russell Westbrook really evolves into an elite point guard.

Last year I heard some people complain about the lack of Saturday games, but it looks like they kept the preference for Friday and Sunday games this year. By my count there are 3 Sat. games, 9 Fri. and 10 Sun. games. In any event those first six games should tell us a lot about what kind of team we are this year. If we win or are very competitive in those games it could be an interesting season. Can't wait.

Now that I think about it, I don't know about Detroit either, not early in the season anyway. Kuester will be brand new at the helm and the roster was a complete overhaul. Maybe we can steal one before that team gels.

The beginning stretch isn't any tougher than the rest of the season. Sacramento, Houston, Detroit, and the Clippers are ALL winnable games. We seem to be San Antonio's Achilles's heel, and we beat Portland last year at home. Bottom line is we are STILL on any given night the underdog, that first 10 game stretch is no worse than most spots on the schedule. I'm actually quite optimistic looking at this.

OCT 28 seems like it is forever away

Very good points. I think we're capable of beating someone we shouldn't in those first 10 though. I'm betting we're 3-7 or 4-6.

I'm still not sure how good Houston is going to be. But optimistically, we could be .500 our first 10 games. That's assuming wins 4 wins against the Kings and Clippers, and that one game against Houston.

Then again, it's usually tough to beat the same team twice in that short a timespan (especially since the Clippers get us both times on the back end of a back-to-back), so pessimistically, we could be 2-8.

@Clark Matthews
Yes it is. For a team that is building excitement, there's potential to start 1-5.

That's a tough opening stretch.
