Vegas Game 4: Open Thread

Oklahoma City Thunder (0-3) vs. Chicago Bulls (0-2)
Time: 7:30 p.m. CST
Watch here (maybe)
Chicago roster

What to do on Friday night? What to do, what to dooo… Go see Harry Potter or stay home and watch some SUMMER LEAGUE BASKETBALL!!! I think we all know what the correct answer is. James Harden didn’t play last night, so I’d assume he’s going to get some good run tonight. I’d also expect very little to none of Shaun Livingston since it seems the coaching staff likes to hold him out of back-to-back games. Serge Ibaka was much more active last night and D.J. White had another productive game. Game 4 of the Vegas Summer League. Should be awesome!

Who do the Bulls got?
The Bulls have a couple of interesting players on their roster. They have their two draft picks, Taj Gibson and James Johnson. But they’ve also got some former college studs. Two-time national champ Taurean Green, DeMarcus Nelson from Duke, Josh Shipp from UCLA and Brandon Costner from NC State. Look out for guard Bryan Mullins, not to be confused with Byron Mullens. So watch yourself on that tonight. Our guy will be the tall, skinny guy shooting errant jumpers from 20-feet.

Tip at 7:30 p.m. CST.

Looks like James Harden played pretty well.

Tonight he did two behind the back passes, one for a nice assist for DJ I think right at the cup, the other one was a complete whiff he threw into the stands.....ha ha.

He played in a three guard offense at WSU, and he handled the rock, but he wasn't the primary PG, but I think he can be sort of the utility guy for us.

Oh, and even the pay site NBA deal had a clear picture, but the feed kept blacking out every few seconds. It was nerve wracking.....grrr.

@Joe
Kyle can definitely be the 3rd PG, and I think in a few years he could be a backup PG if necessary. I haven't been able to watch this summer league (bad computer, bad!) but it sounds like he's trying to do too much. I wonder if he's trying the fancy stuff because he knows it doesn't matter if we win, so he's trying new stuff out. I know he didn't handle the ball too much last season but I don't remember him racking up this many turnovers per minute played either.

Daniel :
Turnovers are a result of not having a primary ballhandler. As much as the team wants to believe Weaver is a 1, he’s not.

No, I agree, Kyle isn't a true point, but i think they are taking a good look at him as a third point guard. A lot of teams have to use a roster spot on a 3rd pg, rather than having a guy who can get a few minutes there in a pinch, but who can do other things. I think Kyle can be that guy. If RW is the true PG, and Liv gets the rest of the minutes, Kyle can be the guy who gets 10 min or so if one of the others gets into foul trouble or has a minor injury. But, I agree, not a natural point. He has handled the double team and the trap fairly well tonight; just that he tries to make tricky passes and gets turned.

harden just went right!! haha
and that stuff about not being athletic is ridiculous. he showed really nice hangtime to avoid the block and draw the foul on that play

Shooting better in the 2nd half so far. 47-49 down by 2. KD on the mic!

Turnovers are a result of not having a primary ballhandler. As much as the team wants to believe Weaver is a 1, he's not.

I think the 13 first half turns, 9 of which were in the second quarter were the biggest culprit.

Turns were our undoing in dozens of games last year. I hope they emphasize valuing the rock in training camp.

31 points in 20 minutes. Pathetic. Maybe it's because we don't have a point guard on this Summer League team.

haha the color guy was talking about our team and just said he likes Earl Watson off the bench. Obviously he doesn't know we waived him today.

Here's the box by the way. http://www.nba.com/summerleague2009/games/boxscore.jsp?gameId=1520900040
