Vegas Game 2: Open Thread

Oklahoma City Thunder (0-1) vs. Los Angeles Lakers (2-1)

Laker roster
Thunder roster

After that disaster Sunday night against Memphis, let’s hope for a slightly better effort tonight. No Russell Westbrook this evening for Oklahoma City, but everybody else should be good to go. I’d like to see James Harden assert himself a little more in the offense and hopefully Serge Ibaka plays a little more like he did in Orlando.

The team was clearly tired Sunday night after five games in five days and then a trip cross country. If anything, you just want to to see them get their legs back under them and compete. Wins don’t matter one bit in Summer League, but getting better sure does. And going through games half-way doesn’t get you any better.

Also Oklahomans that prefer orange may take more interest in this game than most as it could feature three former Cowboys: Marcus Dove playing for the Thunder and Terrel Harris and David Monds for the Lakers.

    Dude is that really Byrons stat line??? Interesting

  2. Wilson
    July 14th, 2009 at 18:22 | #2

    Man LA shooting 80%+ from 3 and we still lead by 4, we are shooting 65% from the field, DJ playing well too, nice looking performance right now.

    Royce, who is running the point?

  3. July 14th, 2009 at 18:22 | #3

    Ha…they did leave off the Thunder logo….pigs.

  4. Royce
    July 14th, 2009 at 18:23 | #4

    Weaver ran a lot of point in the second quarter, but for the most part it’s Livingston.

  5. Greg
    July 14th, 2009 at 18:23 | #5

    Harden 4-6, Weaver 3-5, White 4-5, Mullens 4-6. Very efficient offensively so far.

  6. Royce
    July 14th, 2009 at 18:24 | #6

    Yeah, Harden has been AWESOME in the first half. 8 points, 4 assists, 4 rebounds and a steal.

  7. Bryan
    July 14th, 2009 at 18:24 | #7

    @Wilson
    That’s what it said. But I wouldn’t read too much into it. Griffin and Jordon killed LA inside last night. And they completely ran away with the game early.

    July 14th, 2009 at 18:25 | #8

    Gotta love the stats so far

  19. July 14th, 2009 at 18:48 | #19

    July 14th, 2009 at 18:49 | #20

    @Joe

    Welcome David. Nobody bites here, we just bark sometimes. :O)

  22. Greg
    July 14th, 2009 at 18:49 | #22

    Ibaka hasn’t looked like the Ibaka in Orlando. Kind of dissapointing.

  23. July 14th, 2009 at 18:50 | #23

    @nick

    Totally!!

  24. David
    July 14th, 2009 at 18:53 | #24

    @Joe
    yeah, everyone seems really reasonable. like i said i have been reading since pretty much just before the draft, and i have never seen anyone getting angry and saying stupid things. those people are for the birds.

    you guys are cool…

    Anyone think orlando is sending gortat our way in december?

  25. Royce
    July 14th, 2009 at 18:53 | #25

    Anthony Randolph with 42 for the Warriors tonight. Wow.

  26. nick
    July 14th, 2009 at 18:54 | #26

  28. David
    July 14th, 2009 at 18:57 | #28

    shooting 80%… am i reading that right?

  29. Alex
    July 14th, 2009 at 19:00 | #29

    @Royce
    42 is pretty amazing, but don’t you have to be kind of worried if you’re the Warriors that he only got 3 rebounds the entire game?

  30. Greg
    July 14th, 2009 at 19:04 | #30

    Wow, Byron showing some more athleticism with yet another block. Fifth of the game.

  31. Bryan
    July 14th, 2009 at 19:05 | #31

    Mullens still has butter fingers

  32. Greg
    July 14th, 2009 at 19:05 | #32

    This guy is a joke, is really trying to say Kobe is better than MICHAEL JORDAN?!?! No one is that stupid.

  33. nick
    July 14th, 2009 at 19:06 | #33

    these announcers are HORRIBLE. especially compared to the amazingness that was dante and galante

  34. Bryan
    July 14th, 2009 at 19:07 | #34

    They make a good point about Harden defending the point

  35. Bryan
    July 14th, 2009 at 19:07 | #35

    otherwise they suck big time

  36. July 14th, 2009 at 19:08 | #36

  39. nick
    July 14th, 2009 at 19:12 | #39

    i know it doesn’t matter, but it frustrates me that we gave away the game

  40. Alex
    July 14th, 2009 at 19:12 | #40

    Harden really had a Brandon Roy-like stat line tonight…23/5/5

  41. Bryan
    July 14th, 2009 at 19:13 | #41

    Have to wonder when Mullens and White have fewer rebounds than Harden and Weaver

  42. July 14th, 2009 at 19:16 | #42

    Mullins with 10 points, 5 boards and 5 BLOCKS!

  43. Bryan
    July 14th, 2009 at 19:17 | #43

    Mullens with a nice game…I’d like to see a few more boards though

  44. Bryan
    July 14th, 2009 at 19:17 | #44

    And what happen to Ibaka?

  45. Greg
    July 14th, 2009 at 19:18 | #45

    He had hands like feet tonight and just showed no sort of intensity.

  46. July 14th, 2009 at 19:18 | #46

    I think DJ got his bell rung.

  47. David
    July 14th, 2009 at 19:20 | #47

    @Joe

    I don’t think that we will see Harden getting as many one on one offensive looks during the season as this game. I would hope not, because that means that the rest of the team is standing and watching. I liked his ability to get some shots, but like the look of his spot up shot much better!

  50. ATR
    July 14th, 2009 at 19:43 | #50

    Of course the shots that I am thinking of came with Livingston at the point and not Westbrook. Quick drive and kick to the open man in stride. As opposed to drive into a triple team and then try to throw it to anyone you can when the defense has already rotated to them.
