Saturday Morning Cartoons: Serge Ibaka must break you

(Morning party people. Thank you for your support of Daily Thunder. Talk amongst yourselves.)

With the Sergeant of Slam, Serge Ibaka, knocking our socks off with his skill in Orlando last week, he’s kind of all I’ve been thinking about lately. And while he won the Spanish League slam dunk contest back last September, this video is sort of relevant again. There’s really no way to describe his winning, TRUE free throw line flush. Majestic? Soaring? Freaking long? Behold Ibaka’s awesomeness starting at the 1:42 mark.

funny how this was much, much better than the 2010 NBA dunk contest

Steve H, Otis Smith could match on Gortat and then later trade but it would be at a reduced trade match value. Something could work. I think Orlando got a trade exception from the Turkoglu deal that could make even better but complicated possibilities. I could research and remember more but I am not motivated enough to pursue this fairly low chance hypothetical.

@Greg
I started to get worked up over that too but it's Summer League...Summer League is only useful for fans in that we find out who CAN'T play, but not necessarily who CAN...Just look at last year...Bellinelli and Bayless were off the charts and barely found any playing time...We have to wait until the season starts (when these guys are forced to play defense) to judge Presti on those 2nd round picks.

And also for the record, Rodrigue Beaubois scored 34 yesterday. connecting on 7, that's right 7, three pointers. Did someone say we were in need of a sharpshooter? Cause we had him.. and traded him away for the next Nenad Krstic (best-case scenario).

Budinger with 25 points in 22 minutes yesterday, I'll say it a hundred times that he's a hundred times better than Darth Vaden.

The next MJ resides in OKC!

@Blake

Sounds good to me.

Sergeant Serge for the nickname.

Ok, so I'm probably behind but I suppose their isn't a web stream of the Vegas League? You have to buy it or whatever???

AD :
“Chewie” Ibaka

You know, if you listen to the announcers when Ibaka dunks, when they say his name, they sound a little like Jabba the Hutt when he says "At last we have the mighty Chewbacca" or something like that.

Darnell Mayberry just Tweeted that the Thunder have signed Harden, Mullins and Ibaka.....

It sounds like Ibaka will be with the Thunder for the season.

Yeah yeah. I think Presti needs to find new homes for Collison (unfortunately imo) Watson and Wilkins.

Disregard that. Just found it.

Magic picked up Brandon Bass. I think that'll really help them, they needed a lot of help in the post with not much depth behind Dwight.

Anyone know where to check out box scores for the Vegas games?

Happy247 :@Kev Can you see all the games on demand or just the ones that happened that day?

after the day is over , you can view any previous game for any previous day (if I read it right) - until July 26 - which is really cool becuase some people have to work and have other commitments, so they can watch at their leisure - or watch it over and over . . .

@Kev

@AD
Love it. or maybe just "Chewbaka"

People that say Ibaka won't be good and that he is raw are stupid because when Dwight Howard got drafted he was raw and skinny but look at him now! Why don't you support ibaka and give him a chance! No he should not start in the D League he belongs on the floor with the rest of the Thunders! Van Gundy even said he was impressed when he saw serge play! He has a chance to be amazing!

Can't wait to see him throw it down at the Ford center!!!! Pretty sure we will have potential winners for NBA dunk contests (Russel and Serge), the new HORSE contest (KD) and maybe even the three point contest (Harden). I'm calling it a sweep, done.

Just read a story on Hoopsworld with John Denton speculating that Magic will match and trade Gortat. J.G., if you are out there, is it possible the trade rule you cited that the Magic would have to retain the player till February only applies to new-signings, and not retained/matched restricted free agents? Sill love the idea that Presti might have been laying in the weeds for Gortat- offering them Atkins collapsing contract to keep them under the cap and a future pick- hell, maybe throw Hardin (Devin-NOT James Harden)as a cherry on top.

The announcers are a riot. I especially love the reaction to the second dunk. Thanks for posting.

Ibaka rules! I can't wait to see him play again!! Go Thunders!

Ibaka rules! I can't wait to see him play again!! Go Thunders!

addendum - I CAN'T WAIT until the Thunder plays Memphis so we can watch Thabeet getting destroyed! That's worth the $15 by itself :)

we will be right back after this commercial break.

I highly recommend the Summer League package - yes you have to pay for it

But

it's $15

for that you get

all the games live
and after the day is done, you can watch when you want
you get to see all of Blake Griffin's games
I get to see all of Curry's games
it's summer and the only thing on is baseball (which I can't stand)

and , oh yeah - we get to watch the Thunder!!

the feed will be up until July 26 - which means you get 17 days of hoops - less than a dollar a day - sold!

someone else already mentioned the better camerawork - the play by play guys are adequate - and the score is shown more frequently . . .

its at nba.com

btw - I just watched Curry's game yesterday (I give him a C+)

5 minutes after I bought the pass, I was thinking to myself how silly it was for me to consider NOT buying it . . .

He needs a nickname real bad...I mean, Serge Ibaka is a great name, but it doesn't really roll off the tongue. Does anyone have any good nickname ideas? He just seems like the perfect candidate for an awesome nickname.
