<a href="#comment-18595" rel="nofollow">@Royce</a>

Just sent this to Darnell:

I think I may write about this quote from the Daily Thunder QA.

"It’s the basement-dwelling, jobless, inexperienced, inconsiderate “Joe Blow Blogger” with no integrity or proper training that I don’t think has any place in or around a professional locker room or clubhouse. Because a fan has an audience we should give him or her a press pass? I don’t agree with that. We wouldn’t let a political enthusiast cover the White House. Making matters worse, some of these bloggers don’t even use their real name. They’re nameless, faceless people who are fans of the league and want to be close to the action because they have a vehicle for delivering “information.” That’s what I meant by “Joe Blow Blogger.” They aren’t held accountable for anything they write."

Can you give me the name of the blog you read that has a basement-dwelling, jobless, inexperienced, inconsiderate author with no proper training and also receives NBA press passes? I'd be very interested to read it.

Thanks-

<a href="#comment-18594" rel="nofollow">@Patrick</a>
The bloggers I know that are credentialed are definitely not the Joe Blow kind of guys he referred to. Ben Golliver from Blazer's Edge, Zach McCann of Orlando Magic Daily, Michael Schwartz of Valley of the Suns and so on.

I'd agree that you don't want to hand locker room passes to just anyone that fires up a blogspot. But that's not happening. The ones that are getting credentialed are credible writers that do great work and serve as a wonderful complement to the MSM's coverage.

I guess a good follow up question for Darnell would be to give us an example of the "Joe Blow Blogger" he's talking about. I doubt he could give us one, because his description of "Joe Blow" is more a myth than reality.

Hmmmmmn. Maybe I should write about this on my blog. You know, the one were I write "anonymously."

Joe, I'd tend to assume Darnell is talking generically or referring an example of a blogger in another city, maybe the Dallas test case where Cuban pulled the credentials or another and that the Joe in Joe Blow was just a coincidence. I can't see how he was referring to you since you haven't sought credentials or gotten in his way or rode his coattails in person. Maybe he is making a composite of several kinds of bloggers. I no longer listen to print journalists about bloggers because they mostly critique the very worst and do not acknowledge that the very worst are not the average and at that at least the best bloggers are often quite good. You and Royce do what you do well. It is different from what print media mostly gives but for hardcore fans what the blog gives is the speculative and the retrospective and the detail and the step back from the immediate moment stuff that doesn't usually make print media for the mass market. Print journalist work within a tighter box to suit the broad audience but I'd think more people want more than the print media has understood and given them hence the blog sources cropped up and met the demand.

<a href="#comment-18503" rel="nofollow">@Jax Raging Bile Duct</a>
Yeah it was pretty cool to see him more in his element. It was also interesting to see the short bit of Durant and Rose talking - an article I read today said that are pretty close.

No stealing Chicago!!!!

Sports is entertainment, there is no offical story, in fact it is no more then a reality show with tall people. I don't think that sports or any entertaimnet show should be compaired to economic/social/political news. Even then the slants/spins are so deep that what ultimately comes accross is mostly opinion based anyways. Let the people with the audiences do the reporting. I came here for the Joe and I say for the Royce.
