Bob Hill has resurfaced as a pre-draft trainer eh? I always liked him. Not a great coach, but not horrible. He was better than P.J. that's for sure. He couldn't get a lick of defense out of Ray Allen or Rashard Lewis though. It's good to pair up a guy like Blake (and Taylor) with a solid, veteran coach with all of his connections and years in the league. It will so much help him (Blake) get his mind around the craziness that he is in for as the next big thing in the NBA.

I'm still upset Blake can't leap buildings in a single-bound. :)

Seriously, when someone's a unanimous, "it's not even close because he's so far beyond any of the rest" #1 pick, kev is right, they have to write about something. And journalists (and I'll use the term very loosely), don't want to seem either too pro one player or they're just uninformed because they're too lazy or too obtuse to actually do some research and background on the player, so they either go off of what everyone else says is a perceived weakness or they just watch one or two games and make a decision off of that to poke holes and write an incendiary article.

Griffin will be a beast in the NBA on both sides of the floor, you don't kill yourself in the gym with Frank Matrisciano (and on the hills/in the sand of San Francisco) with the type of strenuous crossfit workout regimen he has if your character lacks in effort or intensity.

Geesh, that bad defender statement about Blake is just . . . sad. I won't even elaborate, I will just leave it at that.

Just saw this on NewsOK.com: http://blog.newsok.com/jennicarlson/2009/05/13/want-to-follow-folks-in-sports-just-tweet/?custom_click=lead_story_title

Jenni apparently doesn't read Daily Thunder or else she would know KD also tweets. And if you follow who he's following, you'd find Chris Paul, and if you follow who he's following...

Also within that Griffin article, Blake addresses the perceived "bad defender" argument: "I was on a team where I couldn't get in foul trouble," Griffin said. "Coach [Jeff] Capel was pretty clear that I needed to be on the floor. So I was always conscious, maybe too conscious, about picking up fouls.

"I definitely [think] that it's an area of my game that needs improvement. But I feel like I'm going to be a good defender in the NBA. I like to play defense."

*cough* I think someone had said that earlier *cough* http://www.dailythunder.com/?p=1803

People are just trying to poke holes in his game - Stoudemire was a fair shooter his first year - now he can knock down the 18 footer with regularity - just because he didnt shoot in college doesnt mean he can't shoot . . .

The thing about Blake is that he's got excellent form and he's a pretty good shooter. Put him in a gym five hours a day taking 1,000 jumpers and he'll be a nice jumpshooting big man.
